Struggled a bit in the first half but created some chances.
Second half absolutely awful.
How we have gone from the two best full backs in the league to what we have now is a mystery.
Centre halves overworked and pulled from pillar to post.
Midfield constantly overrun.
Service to the wings was just kick and hope.
And on And on I could go

The first half today was better but Tranmere should have been ahead. In the second half they were simply well beaten. Similar to Tuesday night our distribution and understanding at times was dreadful. There is now very little attacking threat in this team and I am struggling to see where a next win is coming from. Martin Allen has to do better than this. I think everyone can accept getting beat today if there was a sign of improving play and cohesion in the team. There simply is not. There was a lot of frustrated talk down Stoneham lane on the way home and people saying they are not coming back or renewing next season.

Muggleton isn't good enough to be on the pitch, simple! Gave away the second goal and didn't go in for any challenges. Even his throws produce nothing.
Other than that not much to say really. First half was better than Tuesday, second half fell apart. Macca did ok given it was his first game back. Mcleod was our best player, shocked to see him subbed off.

All in all very disappointed with the game overall, I'm struggling to find a positive from this one.

I cannot see how you can possibly say this if you were at the last 3 home games. We were much better throughout today. Against, IMO the best team in the league, certainly that I have seen, we were, stronger, quicker, and gave 100% from first to last. Absolutely no disgrace in losing this one, and by a mile the best team performance we have given for a long while. Agreed we struggled a bit after the first goal we had run to a standtill. If we play like this for the rest of the season, we will be well clear of the bottom places, something I was far from certain of at kick off today.
And as for the booing at the end. What the hell is the point of booing guys who run for 95 minutes against a very good team. If you want to boo, boo the manager, but when you can see the team give 100% support them!

I'm just thankful that nobody's started a separate "Eastleigh v Tranmere" thread on top of this one and the 'Saturdays game' thread.

I've seen the last 3 home games. I agree no disgrace losing today and I expected it. But other than being more organised behind the ball in the first half, I saw no pattern or improvement going forward. Aimless long balls being the main tactic. We've lost the last three at home without scoring a goal. In anyone's books that's relegation form. I didn't boo at the end but what do we expect? The club have dismantled a decent side, letting all the fans favourites go. I highly doubt we'll be near a relegation scrap but it's not exactly encouraging for the longer term future at the moment either is it.

Well what can you say but "Disappointed Again". As a season ticket holder I have seen a lot of games this season home and away and I am afraid we have gone backwards. I am all for staying positive and looking to the future but we currently play like a rugby team!! we lump it up front to try and gain some territory then our hooker (Muggleton) hurls it in!! On the subject of Muggleton he is simply not good enough and Stern is not far behind him. It's ok to have a long throw but football is played with your feet.
The worrying thing is when you look for improvement what is there to come? We have a small squad now and a lot of those are loan signings meaning they lack the heart and desire required.
I love watching Eastleigh and really enjoy the matchday experience and that will never change but it is disheartening when you see all this change and that is not just on the pitch but the atmosphere at the ground as well. Some of the players are not good enough. Look at Tranmere, not the best side I've seen but they had a bit of pace, niggle and most importantly they had a plan. This is the level we should be at.
Let's hope we can pick up some points fast, get safe for this season and get serious for next.

I thought this was much better from us than last Tuesday, but with better finishing Tranmere could have had seven or eight. Apart from their finishing they were (again) a seriously good side, with great support, and on this form they will be in the playoffs at least.
As for us: Stack didn't do anything wrong again, and made a great save one-on-one at the end of the first half; the defence looked dodgy again, the full backs again made far too many errors, Muggleton was awful today; midfield battled away with the two wide players doing quite well; Macca did as well as anyone could have hoped for on his return (and lasted 80 minutes) and Wilson ran around without really threatening. I agree there were far too many long aimless balls played, which put the pressure back on us quickly. Long throws didn't do it either, only the first one looked dangerous. The 5 on 2 for their second goal was poor, although there were only 5 minutes to go and their keeper had just made a good save from Macca.
There really should be no thoughts of relegation, but we're playing some good teams at home in the next couple of months, so I reckon we may have to look to our travels. The pitch was shocking today but that probably hampered Tranmere as much as ourselves. I didn't boo either, but I think the boos were for the manager as much as the players.
We've got to get something out of the Macc game, but they're a decent side too and it won't be easy.

Speaking personally, I don't give a stuff for next season, that can take care of itself, we can, and probably will, debate that until the cows come home in April/May/June. Right now we ARE in a relegation battle, be in no doubt about that. Again we can all have our sixpenny worth of how on earth we have sunk as far as we have, who is to blame etc, etc. Right now it doesn't matter, it is irrelevant. What matters is we get the 7,8 or 9 points to ensure we stay in this division.
Over the last few years the journey EFC has been on has been fantastic, unbelievable, and one of the greatest things that I have ever witnessed in my life. A long while ago, well before many of you were following the club, with David Hughes temporarily in charge, we were in an awful run of form, and we went to Basingstoke, desperately needing a result. A couple of hundred of us went, supported the team, and in a backs to the wall performance we ground out a 1-0 win. David Hughes thanked each of us personally after that, and the rest as they say is history, look at us now.
Well for the first time in a long while we are facing a bit of a crisis. Its temporary and it will pass. What's needed now is not a load of who is to blame, but instead we need to unite as a football club, help the team over the line to get these few points to ensure National league football next season. No one is deliberately screwing up the club, not SD, not MA and not the players, all are desperate to do well. Our aim is to get to the championship - just think what a journey that would be. For now its a while off, we are all upset, none so more than me, I shudder every time I look at the league table. Our cushion is now just 9 points, we dare not lose Tuesday.
So how about we have a truce, how about we all agree we ALL want whats best for the football club, and how about we believe (and its true), that every person on Tuesday is desperate to win, lets leave all the negative crap to one side, lets together overcome this mini crisis, and lets bomb on for next season. Put simply it could be the next few weeks are the most important in the clubs history, lets play our part in lifting the club out of its current predicament. We can't influence what MA does, or what SD does or largely what the players do, lets influence what we can and that's US. Lets cheer them over the line and get us up and running again.

Hiya all,
Just got back from the game,
First up, thanks for the travel advice etc, was very much appreciated, spoke to a few decent fans after the game who were a credit to you
As for the game, well I must confess I was expecting more of a test from you today, first 10 mins I thought you did well and I was worried but after that I thought we played well especially when we went into our passing game
But for you, if ever a game demonstrated Allens style it was this, it was just pump it long, pump it long, I think given time he will do well for you and you will be a force next season but by god I think it will be dull for you, it will be recruitment based purely upon how long you can kick it, whether you can throw it and whether you can head the ball
the most worrying for me from an outsider to your club is that you felt that was an improvement, the reality is I don't feel we hit full pelt today
I really hope you don't get dragged into a battle, I have enjoyed both trips to you and based in london its an easy one for me

I didn't think our play today was an improvement on Tuesday v Braintree, I just thought it confirmed how poor we are at the moment. It would be great to not criticise, BUT, look at the physique of the Tranmere and Braintree teams compared to ours. All tall, strong, quick physical guys who were generally first to the ball. OK, you can removed a couple of the adjectives relating to McNulty, but he rarely put a foot wrong. The players MA has brought in are shorter in stature, lighter in weight and when we come up against teams like T and B will inevitably struggle to compete. Long balls in the air, to whom? Their defenders all along. It's so clear. Lets scrape a few move points just to stay in the NL, please, but if we are to stand any chance of challenging next season, the whole makeup of the team needs to change. That is in no way a detrimental comment against any of our players who, I appreciate all give everything they can.

There was a lot of frustrated talk down Stoneham lane on the way home and people saying they are not coming back or renewing next season. Why on earth would anyone not renew their s.t next season? Its under £6 a game for an adult. I don't care if we get spanked 5-0 every week. For that money its worth it. I for one am looking forward to breaking the record of longest run of home games without a win. 😂

Absolutely agree, I find it hard to understand supposed"supporters" saying they won't renew, yeah it's tough at the moment but like it or not we're in transition, its a mass clear out to start again with the aim to go up. It's a journey we're fortunate to be on thanks to our chairman. I don't think many of this weeks team will be starting eleven for next season?
