He's not for me, totally uninspiring on every level. Why a 3 year deal? That's basically a £200k pay off by Xmas next year + additional pay off for his assistant, so getting towards £300k. totally mad and unnecessary. If he's the best option, then it tells me no other managers wanted the job and that's a massive concern.
I really can't believe we have done this.

I'm not surprised he has got the job (and not unhappy). Surprised by a 3 year deal though.
Bradbury had a clause in his contract that if sacked he would get 6 months pay (not the full amount), we don't know if Kelvin Davis has got something similar.
Anyway decision made, 3 and half months to go till the new season, lets do this!

Not my first choice, but the decision has been made so I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. He kept us up with Lee Bradbury's squad, even if it was with some fortunate 1-0 wins against relegation battlers. I'm glad he cleared out so much dead wood and has the whole pre-season to build a squad. Other than 2 players who had earned contract extensions, I'm happy with the retained/released list & from inside sources I've heard from, KD has made a great impression during his trial period so let's hope next season we can challenge, not just survive, and do so with a bit of style.

I think the management team has shown enough to be excited to see what he could do with his own players, afew releases I'm surprised about, but hung on to some key players.

Kelvin Davis did what he was asked to with the squad he inherited, with the major deficiencies it had. He found the knack of achieving boring 1-0 away wins, always a good skill to have. Most home performances under him were pretty cr*p, to be honest, so he'll have to work on those.
A 3-year contract seems a lot, but as said above if it's like the Bradbury one, then there's less risk/cost. I think KD is still learning so I don't expect great consistency at the start of next season Hopefully his assistant Danny Butterfield has also been taken on, he makes up in the dugout for the quieter demeanour of Mr. Davis.
Some of the retained list I'm happy with, some I'm not. However, there is scope for changing the way they play with the right newcomers, I assume the manager will be choosing them himself now we don't have a DoF? Anyway, good luck to him!

What changed Under KD, NOT ALOT!!! He had the same players bar Vokins pretty much to Hill and was able to win more away games and keep more clean sheets than Hill did. His goal upon being hired would of been to keep us up and he done so with games to spare.

......I assume the manager will be choosing them himself now we don't have a DoF? Anyway, good luck to him! The same situation as this time last year, except he won't have a DOF to help negotiate deals on the players he chooses.
