Just looking at the last few seasons where the top 7 have made the POs and everyone has played 46 games, the minimum needed for top 7 is 71 points, max is 75 points.
We need W10 D3 L5 to get 71 We need W11 D4 L3 to get 75
Looks a very tall order.

Well our next two fixtures are Alty away and then Chesterfield. Don't think we have won at Alty in years and Chesterfield are running away with it

Interestingly enough Richard Gill this time around has managed for half a season in terms of the league (23 league games) and his record in those games is W10 D5 L8 F46 A46 as opposed to P46 W19 D10 L17 F56 A57 which is a very fractional improvement, although the percentage of draws is identical. However this season's five draws (four of which we held the lead at one point and the other was goalless) have still produced more goals than last season's ten stalemates even though there are five fewer of them.
Last season we won nine league matches 1-0, whereas we have not won a single match by this margin this campaign.
I think it is often difficult to get the balance between attack and defence right.

It's much tighter in the league this year (below Chesterfield) so I think the points needed for 7th may be lower than previous years.
Any team in positions 4-12 (possibly more) could, with a good run, still get into the playoff places quickly.
We've blown a few chances recently to get nearer the top 7, the chances are running out. Especially when we may do well to get a point put of the next two games.
We need to forget the Newport disappointment, defend better and do the things we were doing right a few weeks ago - ASAP.
We went to a back 5 because the midfield was getting overrun. Gateshead was the low point of that. We improved, but the defence is showing signs of wear and tear and the creativity (especially Maguire) is not going too well at the moment. Having said that, we still score quite a few goals. But we concede a lot too.
What's Aaron Martin doing nowadays? He's now on the bench, is he now fit for 90 minutes to marshal that defence into a tighter unit?
