Southend forum is entertaining, they don't seem to have a great opinion of either our team or our manager (and his interview). And the commentary! Neither do ours 🙂

Some decent highlights here, the Quigley incident around 3:55 and the penalty around 8:35. I still can't make my mind up about either. I saw the former from the West Stand so I appreciate I didn't have the best view. These are from the South Stand, I think. youtu.be/uGcAOX6E2qwThe Quigley one is interesting - I thought at the time that he got the ball, and watching the above back at x0.25 speed you can clearly see his eyes never deviate from the ball, and he does actually win it without making any direct contact with Miley. It then becomes a question of whether it was reckless/out of control, and that's one you can debate until the cows come home. I guess in the modern game that sort of challenge is typically regarded as a foul, though it never would have been in the past, but either way I think a red would have been very harsh. The penalty decision is really difficult to see from that angle through a crowd of bodies, but it looks like there's a chance he may have played through the man to get the ball. Possibly a soft one, but then the penalty decision we got at Newport on Macca was equally soft, so swings and roundabouts on this one really.

The referee is going to give what he thinks he sees, and often, in this league, the ref's opinion is very seldom shared by supporters on either side (understatement time). As it happens I thought the yellow card was the right decision and if the penalty had been awarded against us I might have got a bit upset. As you say things balance themselves out over the season. I thought your commentator's reaction to Miley's injury was pretty poor, but then again the whole commentary was dire.

Don’t think Quigley was a foul. If that is a red card, then the game truly has gone. Never a penalty, not saying we deserved a result yesterday, but unlucky for the pen. Who are the commentators?!

Tomorrow definitely won’t be our biggest league crowd of the season.
Will it beat the 5002 v Reading? possibly, 5025 v Bolton also potentially within reach to record our biggest ever crowd. First midweek sellout also.
For those who really like their crowd stats we may also be on for a ‘week of 10k’ over 10000 combined attendance at the silverlake for the weeks games
