Support sounded fantastic on the TV. We don't usually see eye to eye sir. However, todays support was unreal from all stands. The whole blue stand behind the goal singing, 'you're not singing anymore' and langston coming over to us at the end made the day that much more special

Good result. Poor game. Embarrassing support. Crap draw. assuming that you're being sarcastic about the support. Not where we were. Could hardly hear a thing. The odd pocket singing here and there occasionally. Too many woodworm supporters who won't be there Saturday.

Sure, there were a lot of tourists.
Reading's support was awesome, and loud, so drowned out most of what we had to offer (our usual South Stand lot could be heard pretty well, though - and supporting the team, rather than baiting the opposition). When Reading scored it was a sight to behold. 1400 of them in unison.
But when we got the winner even we old gits in the West Stand were up and cheering. That was as close to as good as I've seen/heard at the Silverlake. And as as I say, even RH smiled.

Firstly on the pitch. Was very confident going into the game. 1st 10 mins did we touch the ball? Wasnt until after the break for the protest. during which Hilly changed a few things and we started getting into the game. Superb finish from PM for the first. Great team performance 2nd half. Should they have had a pen? who cares ref didnt give it. We scored a late winner. mental scenes all over the place.. Best home result ever?
Was right next to the Reading fans on Sunday. No mans land was about 10 foot with one scaffold pole each side. To stop the waring green streeters. Great atmosphere with the Young lads giving and taking a bit. Some great one liners coming from both sides. A lot of singing. They were booing the protest at first. So I explained to some of our younguns as to why the tennis balls were being thrown. Think they now have a better apprecation that not all club owners are like Stewart. Best song was After the Reading lot have been singing "Here to see the Reading" One of our lots replied with "Your only here to lose to Eastleigh". Great fun I also liked the checking tickets outside which allowed entrance into the ground through The Hanger door. The Thatchers van was a great help with the amount of people wanting a bevvie. As the hanger was heaving. Thanks to all the staff who worked their butts off keeping us all fed and water'd and the Stewards. Thought it was good that they let people stand at the fence in the east stand (Perhaps make it kids only next time tho). As it was a bit tight in there 1st half. Gotta say how good is our pitch. Dan with the help of Blakey got that pitch looking and playing superbly. Something that hopefully the powers that be will realise that Dan needs help.
A cracking day.

Yeah you are right Reading started well and looked on top. Had they scored early it could have been a different game. Always thought the stoppage was only going to help us and it may well have done.
Also good point re scanning tickets way before the turnstiles, otherwise would have been a nightmare with a lot of people missing KO/a delayed KO.
A day that will live long in the memory, but hopefully we are not yet done in this years FA cup!

Was it?! I thought it was pretty quiet, not that they had a whole lot to shout about. Maybe it was from where I was in the ground. End of the east terrace/north stand. minor detail in the grand scheme.

I thought it was pretty loud being on the opposite side to them (West Stand). And when they scored....
A couple of afterthoughts....
I thought our performance was probably a level higher than I've seen us play in most of the home games (one big thing was that we minimised the number of unforced errors), so that must give some optimisim for the play-offs, if we ever get there. To get there, of course, we must be more consistent!
I've been fairly 'neutral' about Bailey Clements' performances since he came here, but I thought he was outstanding against Reading. Not to mention several others.....

2 things of note from a stream watcher, we haven't missed Martin and Hodson coming back has been huge. The movement of players by Hilly (Francilette/Boudewijn) was risky and has paid off. The combo of Maguire, McCallum and Quigley is working very well now just need a back up for when the inevitable happens injury/suspension etc. Boudewijn could slot in?

As I've said before, RH switching to a back five to protect the midfield and to enable our front three (amongst the bet in the league) to do the business has turned around our season. Still need more consistency though. All of those things were evident on Sunday, and I think this showed the system to its best as everyone played their part.
Hodson is an experienced and canny player and he has slotted into the back five very well. His passing is also pretty good - Langston plays the long ball well, and Francilette was playing it simple on Sunday, which suits him better IMO.
We saw Harris come in when Maguire was injured and we looked fairly solid but we obviously missed Maguire's creativity. Harris also comes on as sub to good effect when we have a lead to protect (Sunday was an exception, but it was a great equaliser from Azeez).
Boldewijn did well when he stood in for the injured McCallum up front, RH loves him because of his versatility. Not sure how well it would work if we had a long-term absence.
