I was never anti LB but today was a breath of fresh air for those of us who sit in stand behind the dugouts. Not talking about performance or result but to see a manager who for the full match communicated with his team was a joy to watch. So much more positive than continued griping at lino, fourth official and ref from various National League bosses.

See our stewards were busy in the second half too. Some of the visiting fans didn't seem too friendly/sober and our usual teenagers seemed to be winding them up too.
I noticed that the Shots fans were in a pretty small space (half the terrace and a third of the 'new' stand) and this meant they gave even better support as they were even louder than if they'd been spread out more. Also may have contributed to their behaviour.
On a similar note, I also read on the Wealdstone website that there was also an altercation at Parkway after our match.

There has always been issues with certain sections of their fanbase. Even when we were Wessex League & we played them in the Hants Cup we had problems with them. Sounds like our Youth Squadron were being their usual wind up merchants as well then?

Hilly is our leader! Watched in the pub, decent performance. Agree that we never really put their 2 sub keepers under much pressure, but we looked comfortable and in control all game, even before the sending off at 0-0. The only way is up now. Hilly looks to have changed and learnt from experience. Personally, and although its only one game, i'd keep him on for the season.

I always remember the Hants Cup Semi played at Ten Acres when Newport IOW beat Aldershot 2-1. Referee was an up and coming Rob Styles, before his Premier League days, from Portsmouth. Aldershot fans blamed him for the result and lined up either side of the two railings that ran for about 20 yards from pitch to changing rooms. He checked back as he got to the start of the railed pathway but luckily Roger Sherwood, who was a giant of a man, came up behind Pierce lifted him off his feet wrapped his coat round him and carried him back to the refs changing room. Don't think any Aldershot fans would have fancied standing toe to toe with Roger. Memories.

Yep all aged 13-15 ran down to give it large to the Aldershot fans and when shots fans retaliated the kids ran back up the stand behind the stewards. Now I think its all pathetic and embarrassing however, if you are going to give it you can't run away as soon as you receive it back
