I always enjoy our games with the Hampshire northeners.
They have gone from being absolute pooh. To being the dogs nads lately. I wonder how many of their fans get caught out with the pre booked tickets only.
After 2 Saturdays off I hope our boys will be up for a big push towards the busy christmas period. Starting with a nice 3 points tomorrow.

Here's hoping the game isn't affected by players from either team picking up the Omicron strain. Will make a point of checking the club website before heading out tomorrow.

Yes, and the power company's website!
Good analysis of our team from a ShotsWeb poster:
'Tough game for us on Saturday afternoon. This will present a much different test for us compared to that of teams we have played since our upturn in form. Eastleigh are really strong at home. They've won 5 and only lost 1 in 8 there. They're in good form amidst a run of difficult fixtures, and have shored their defence up of late. They have a unique playing style especially at home. They are a big side, physical and athletic.
They attack in numbers, are direct and hard running. They are dangerous at set pieces. They like to play on the front foot and try and dominate opponents.
Their shot count at home is always very high. Although sometimes off target. They're not particularly possession based, they like to get from A to B as quick as possible. They had 18 shots in a recent game v Altrincham, we managed 4. They are a well balanced side with few weaknesses. The defence if it has a fault is a little on the slow side especially in centre half positions. They are big and robust though. The midfield is hard working and box to box. Hill, an attacking midfielder, runs with the ball and gets in advanced positions. Whelan, takes a nice free kick , passes well, and is technically sound. Harper is a tricky winger with a turn of pace and decent delivery. Up front, House is strong and direct, physical and has an eye for goal. Barnett is an experienced front man who leads the line well and is another big unit. This is a game where we will need to stand up and be counted, as this will be a strong, physical test. We'll have to hope to diminish their danger with hard work and application, whilst trying to find moments of quality in return.'

Yeh well rather worked out. Think we only had one shot on target and seemed to get worse as the game went on. Whelan seemed to not know we were playing in Blue. And what has happened to House? Slow, poor decision making. But finally when we could see them getting on top we were crying out for Strevs to change it. After we are 1-0 is too late. Not a happy Spitfire

Credit to Aldershot, they outfought us and took advantage in the last half hour with three goals which were all avoidable (the third looked two yards offside but it was all over by then).
Yes, we were poor, but I think that was due to the opposition as much as us. Only Wrexham have done that to us at home this season otherwise.

Yes embarrassingly poor , play like that in the next 5 league games and we’ll be lucky not to be in relegation battle . Devoid of ideas going forward and far too slow and sloppy when passing . The MANAGER? Needs to get a grip of this bunch or leave it to someone else . Hopefully he’ll review his poor decisions and realise HE must change tactics or players .

I get a feeling that everything is a little bit cosy for our playing squad and management. Doesn't really matter if we lose a few games, its all just ticking along nicely thank you. (Do not disturb).

During the thankfully brief tenure of Martin Allen, I commented on his bizarre selection of pre-match and half-time music (Vindaloo and air raid sirens spring to mind) and remarked that its introduction coincided with an alarming dip in form. This Saturday there was a similar issue with the choice of tunes culminating in the playing of ‘Yes Sir I Can Boogie’ at half-time. It may have been the signature tune of Scotland at the Euros, but we know that didn’t go well and, in Eastleigh’s case, it was the prelude to a nightmare second half. To stand a chance against the in-form Solihull Moors on Tuesday, we need to reinstate the tunes that coincided with our strong home form - plenty of Paul Weller, The Stone Roses and other Britpop classics.

Do not know much about the influence music has on playing performances as I think of the reign of Martin Allen had so many changes of personnel in a short space of time which for me did not seem very good for team spirit and our home results have generally been good with even including the opening day defeat and the loss yesterday the record showing 17 points from 9 games.
However it is perhaps worth pointing out that last season on the two occasions that we went more than 14 days without playing a league game we lost the next match after this break.
The match statistics indicate that Eastleigh had 4 shots, 2 of which were on target and Aldershot had 8 shots (no pun intended) of which 5 were on target.
I think that in terms of results we are currently very much in mid-table with the same number of games won as lost and if this continues I expect us to win matches that we are not expected to win and to lose matches we are not expected to lose.

Really disappointing yesterday, I was sure it would be a tight game and the first half was. Second half we were just not at the races.
On days like yesterday the idea of Eastleigh making the playoffs seems far fetched in the extreme :0(

Exactly this. There is no serious drive or ambition for the club other than try and sustain national league status. Fair enough if the owners have no money but if poor results continue the owners need to show some gumption and direction. Strevens should not be immune from pressure. It was dire on Saturday and not for the first time this season.

Its plain to see and glaringly obvious we need someone who can stick the ball in the bloody goal!
