The club has announced that Michael Green, Joe Partington and Pierce Bird will all be leaving the club after their contracts expire. All were offered new contracts, but turned them down. R Solent report that Greener has signed for H&W. Doh! Maybe JP's best days were behind him, but disappointing that PB has decided to move on, after his sterling performances of last season. Hope Strevs has some decent replacements lined up.

Huge amount of experience lost there. Both Green and Partington still have a couple of years left in them. The playing budget like all clubs is going to be reduced following Covid. Worrying for next seasons prospects.

Worrying for next seasons prospects. Totally disagree with you, Parts has been awful since he has come back. Personally wouldn't have given him a contract last season. Grener would have been a squad player i expect. Even tho I thought he was very good 2nd part of the season.
Not worrying at all for next season. The budget was reduced last season and we found some jewels. Whats the betting we find a couple more. Have confidence on what Strevs,Jason and the rest of the back room staff are doing. Also Kenny,Tom etc are working their butts off trying to get new money into the club. ie the test center and we buy any car using our car park.
Head up Mr Hood, tiss a good time to be a Spitfire

Bird's the only player we'll miss out of those three. Not arsed about the other two.

It seems that Pierce Bird has played most of his football in the Midlands and that might be where his roots are
Joe Partington and Michael Green have both been good servants of the club even if they are not the players they were. I was wondering whether they would become player/coach as their playing careers wound on. Ross Flitney is registered as a player and is past his best years as a player, but it seems that he has done a lot of good work with the goalkeepers we have at our disposal.
Michael Green has joined Havant and Waterlooville and he says he wants to play more regular football and I think he acknowledges that he was not guaranteed at Eastleigh. Still I think that since he joined the club in 2011 he has played an important part in the club winning one promotion and reaching the playoffs on three other occasions as well as reaching the F A Cup 3rd round proper twice.

Ex-Spitfire Scott Rendell has just signed for H&W too. They must be collecting our old players again.....

I trust Strevens, which is unusual for me as I'm usually not a great believer in honesty from them. But its a bit of a headscratcher in my opinion why Bird's gone. Especially to Kings Lynn.

I imagine alot of it is down to trimming the wage bill (abit like the situation was with portsmouth) but considering payne was sold and bird fitted the philosophy of getting in youngsters bit of a head scratcher.

By moving to Kings Lynn he's halved his mileage back to home.

I posted earlier in the thread suggesting his roots might be in the Midlands.
I think that when we signed him he had just been released by Notts County where he had played just 24 league games in 3 seasons and been on loan to four clubs also in the Midlands.
When he signed him he was I expect glad another National League club was interested in him, but having proved he could play at this level he might have preferred to play for a club at this level nearer to the Midlands.
