IMO for the time he was with us last season he looked the best keeper in the league

Great to see Max back - permanently this time! Hope he's sorted out the girlfriend situation now ;-)
Interesting how blasts from the past keep turning up.... not a bad strategy, with the ones we're getting.

Fantastic signing. Well done to Kenny, Tom etc and Strevs for getting this one done. Brilliant piece of business. Potentially will be the best keeper in the league.

Staggered he hasn't signed for a league club. The signing of the summer...so far.

Twitter comments state it is for one year. Still a great piece of news.

And for those who will start to complain "why didn't we sign him up for 2 years or more", maybe he only wanted a 1 year deal.

I think the whole team are on 1 year deals now and the club has the option for a second year. Very cleaver bit of business I think. We have the right to extend the contracts then next summer, or release them if they are no good. However, some targets might find it difficult to commit to our contract because of it

Although Max looked very good in the games he played last season and if he plays as well over a whole season as he did over the 13 games he played last season he will be a superb acquisition.
However it is perhaps worth noting that he has not had very much senior experience and may have games where he plays less well as do other goalkeepers who look very good when we first see them play. I think therefore that although I cannot think of anyone who would be in any way displeased at this signing I do not think we want to build him to be a world beater at this stage in proceedings. I actually thought that Luke Southwood looked a good goalkeeper especially towards the end of his loan spell.
Joe Partington has of course proved himself to be a fans favourite and a good clubman over two seasons with the club.

I agree re Luke Southwood and thought he was probably one of the best keepers in the National League throughout the whole of his spell at the Silverlake last season. I did read several weeks ago that he had been released by Reading and can only guess that he might not have wanted to sign a "permanent" deal with Eastleigh for some reason.

I did read several weeks ago that he had been released by Reading and can only guess that he might not have wanted to sign a "permanent" deal with Eastleigh for some reason. A week ago there was a piece in the Reading local paper/on line page stating that Luke still has a year to go on his RFC contract but that the club has made clear that he doesn't feature in their plans for 2019/20 and encouraging him to look for a new club. I suspect that the Max situation has been in the frame for while before Luke became available.
To misquote Kind Hearts and Coronets - " How happy I could be with either".
