After their great FA Cup run, they fell near to the relegation zone, but have now pulled well clear with an six-game unbeaten run.
In the last five games, a 2-0 win, a 1-0 win and three 0-0s, including some games against the top 7.
On that form we may find it hard to score against them, let alone win. It'll be another close one, I think.

We virtually never win comfortably and I'm sure this will be no exception. Number 1 priority A CLEAN SHEET. Never mind all the pretty football, lets be really solid and then when we get a set piece, let us make it count as we did Saturday. I think Sam Matthews will be all the better for Saturday and I think he could be a big player tomorrow. I'm going for a 1-0. Would love to be proven wrong and see us win 6-0, but somehow I can't see it.

A win tomorrow night and we will have one foot in the playoffs.

Well that was a car crash of a game. Would like others views on whether Hollands deserved a straight red but as captain he should not be putting himself at risk of one. The ref was awful. He did not get on top of some early Barnet elbows holding and digging leaving our players wound up. Having said all that Southwood should have saved the first goal (curse of player of the month?) and why Greener even attempted the tackle that gave away the pen as the player was going away from goal is beyond me. And why we brought on Macca when we needed runners and were unlikely to get crosses into the box was beyond me too. We move on but we now need something from the next two away games.

Nailed on red, not what you need from your skipper when you’re 1-0 down. Poor set up again, one up front didn’t work it was too easy for Barnet. 5 across the middle was ineffective, they got more of the ball than we did. Waste of time sticking on Macca and Greener should know better than to gift a penalty away. Outplayed, outfought and well beaten.

theres no doubt the best team on the night won. i was impressed by the way Barnet managed the game when we went down to 10 men--even though it made for a really boring 2nd half. I think that frustration was the cause of the penalty and it was needlessly given away. The experienced players let us down tonight but move on to the next one.Personally I didn't think the officials were too bad- we made it easy to give decisions against us. Paul McCallum really does have to control what he says to the Ref--again pointless booking

I agree red was justified - he may have got the ball but he certainly got the man too. Yeates got a hand-off to the face a few minutes before that but the ref didn't see that one. He was frustrated for most of the rest of the game, it seemed to me. Penalty was stupid too. However, it looked as if the taker hesitated several times before shooting and when he eventually did, about half the players were in the area.
No excuses - we played well in the first 10-15 minutes but after that I thought Barnet were really good - fast and mobile. You can see why they had their Cup run - but straight after it they lost form completely. Now they've not let a goal in for six games, some against top sides. If they'd tried they could probably have had more here. What I didn't like was their gamesmanship - timewasting, and throwing themselves to the floor at every opportunity. But the ref seemed happy enough with it.
I thought bringing on Macca at half time was fair enough (provided he was fit) but not as a pair with Williamson. That left us too light in midfield and they found space galore. The defence hadn't learnt the lessons from Saturday - first goal was a shocker. Hobson and Matthews still haven't quite fitted in yet, which was cruelly exposed today.
As far as our playoff chances are concerned, this was a sort of 'free throw' which, if we'd won, would have been of great benefit. If we get something in the next couple of (harder) games then this won't have had much effect - let's hope it's a wake-up call. It reminded me of the Braintree game a bit, except that Barnet were far better opposition and we'd lost our discipline even more - not helped by Flits' dismissal from the bench either.

The ref wasn't responsible for that result last night. Barnet were excellent and even playing with 11 men to the best of our ability we may well have lost. However we don't help ourselves. We got away with being all over the shop defensively Saturday, but we didn't get way with it last night. We have to show much more discipline, we have to defend as a unit, and we have to stop making stupid challenges in and around our box that we don't need to make. Danny Hollands challenge was absolutely shocking. As captain, what on earth was he thinking? And the penalty, very poor defending.
The three encouraging things to think on this morning are: 1) We are playing away in our next two games 2) We are not playing Barnet again 3) We have been very good this season, in coming back from adversity.
One more thing - don't play Williamson and PM up front together - it just doesn't work.

A couple more thoughts:
1) we missed Joey Jones - badly. Since he got over his early-season injury his form has improved and he's become one of our most important players. Without him only Hollands is a proper ball-winner in midfield and he was overstretched last night, as we saw.
2) Oscar Gobern gives his best but IMO does neither of the two things he's there for (ball-winner and creative force) quite well enough. He also appears too slow to react.
3) Josh Hare's form has dipped alarmingly over the last couple of months in the games I've seen at the Silverlake. At his best he's L1 standard, IMO, so I hope everything's OK with him. It's also put pressure on Hobson coming in, who's done quite well despite that.

I think the issue with Josh Hare is simply the central 3 defenders have not been at their best and hes having to drop further back. Are goal difference underlines how we have been leaking goals- and often through a central position. At the start of yesterdays game he did well driving forward. Once we went one down then went to 10 men he played as a right back. TBH its pointless throwing crosses into a box with very tall defenders if McCallum isn't there. I don't think Goburn was the right sub-he's not a goalscorer and is fairly weak physically. I'd rather have seen Jack Mcknight given a go.

Prior to last night we've only conceded 8 goals in the last 9 league games (yes, I was surprised at that too) so the defence hasn't been too bad, on paper. Wynter and Boyce are, I think, a good central partnership.
You know I think he's overrated, but maybe we've missed Reda in the last two games, too? Maybe it's just that Josh Hare is better going forward than defending - but playing three central defenders and two wing backs ought to suit him better. Maybe it's the defensive organisation that needs looking at? On the other side of the park I'd say the same applies to Greener, who also has had his problems defensively.
Zeb's good in the air too, but not as good as Macca, who is also good defensively, particularly at corners - again, we missed that yesterday. It reinforces the point I made a few weeks ago about not having the strength in depth for a sustained play-off push if we get injuries in the wrong places.
Jack McKnight? Yes, was probably worth a go yesterday - he's come on a few times so far, looks useful but I still haven't seen him enough to say how useful and where particularly on the pitch he'll be useful. Maybe time to give him a full game at some point?

When he plays well, the defence plays well.
