The worst part of today was that Ebbsfleet didn't have to work too hard to turn us over! We were shambolic from the first minute, set up on the backfoot, conceded early, slow, lethargic you name it we were poor at it. No one starting could claim to have had a good game and we could easily have conceded 7 with Ebbsfleet missing clear chances to add to the misery. With any more performances like today we can kiss goodbye to any hope of making the PO's.

I have a friend who is an ebbsfleet fan who was at the game and said the Eastleigh performance was embarrassingly bad. It’s a team going nowhere and fans are paying out for season long mediocrity.

You ruined that by starting with the phrase "You have a friend.. " ensuring that we know the rest is make believe. Wishing you a happy New Year!

As I've said all along, I don't think we'll get into the playoffs, despite a lot of teams around that 7th place being inconsistent.
The thing that really annoys me is the cup form (again) - deservedly losing to two teams in lower leagues meaning we won't have nothing to play for except to plan for next season.
Strange, because we can raise our game for top league games (e.g. Orient, Salford, Harrogate) when it matters, but not for the likes of Hampton and Hemel?
Games against strong teams away, like Ebbsfleet - not a surprise at all.

I spoke to a friend of a friend of an Ebbsfleet fan. He told me that Eastleigh showed some nice touches on the ball, and that judging by recent results, just had an off day. That can happen to any side at any time he explained.

To get things into perspective despite the disappointment of losing yesterday and drawing on Boxing Day we have still obtained 29 points from our last 16 league games. When we only obtained 11 from our first 11 I expect that some of us thought that a relegation battle was looming. I think that there will always be games in a season where you are outplayed on the day - it happened to us even in our promotion seasons.
I did see the home match against Ebbsfleet and I thought we played well that day and were unlucky to lose. I think it is fair to say that the performance of the referee that day was a significant item for discussion. Looking at Ebbsfleet's goalscorers yesterday it appears they have three experienced strikers, at least two of whom have done well against us in the past.

It was a poor performance all round. We were flattered by the score. Tactically having gone 2 down in 8 minutes I would have thought having one main striker (who actually scores very few goals) as our main attacking force was very negative. Yeates was very well kept out of the game and willow had nobody to give the ball to on the few occasions he did manage to retain it.There was no 'man of the match' for us. We needed a change of formation very early on. Reda was run ragged by the winger. I was very surprised that at half time there were no substitutes. It wasn't until zeb and ollie came on that we caused any issues for the defence. The only decent shot was by Reda at the end of the day. We'd have been better off putting him up front as a target man--passing footie looks great if your players are very good at it and very fast and skilfull- but sometimes you have to go direct-not pretty but at least you get in the other teams half. Very disappointed- and there were for me no positives from the game.
