Well, sounds like Strevs & Ross are looking after the team for at least the next game & maybe for the FA Cup game. Win those two & we could be looking at them being a permanent fixture. I'd like to see Glen Southam brought back to join them if he wants in.

Yup, can't see an appointment being made before next Thursday/Friday at the earliest. Ben Strevens was caretaker manager for a game 2 years ago after Chris Todd left the managerial hotseat. We got a decent 0-0 draw at Wrexham.
Have seen a few names bandied around so far, like the sound of Boreham Woods Luke Garrard. I hadn't realised how young he is (33).

Probably more money available at Borehamwood to enable them to keep him. There's bound to be a long list of applicants. Let's give Strevs & Rosco a chance over the next game or two & see what happens. If Strevs gets the job, I'd like to see Glen Southam come back if he wants in.

can't believe people talking about Southam. The man left under a cloud with personal problems and owing our chairman a substantial amount of money.

A lot of us have met him from time to time at away games and he still has a great passion for the club. May never happen, though.

The job has certainly come up a few times in recent history so it may go to a previous applicant. Am sure there are some decent names in the frame. Think we had about 75 applicants after Chris Todds reign.
Ironically enough the best managerial appointment in recent history was not one chosen through the normal application process. It went to a name that was fairly unheard of and had little management experience, none in recent times. I am of course referring to the appointment of Richard Hill in 2012.
Hopefully our recent good run will increase the quality of applicants coming in & prospective managers will see this as a chance to fight for promotion rather than a question of aiming for lower mid table & avoiding relegation.
We could offer a modest basic salary with a bonus should we reach the playoffs.

One out of the blue and one I regretted leaving the club after saving us from relegation was Jason Dodds, he took over from Dossie and was doing a great job when approached by Southampton to guide their youth squad. Currently a PE teacher at Winchester College.

Names like Todd, Dodd, etc aren’t the kind of names we want banded around, unless the board have no ambition at all!! We need a manager who’s been there, done it, and is currently doing it somewhere else.
There might not be SD’s money in the club any more but I think the club is an attractive challenge to someone wanting something new or a fresh start. Decent crowds for this level, the ability to be promoted is certainly possible after our current run, and when you see the ground it shows there is certainly something to play for here.
I hope our new board, who haven’t employed a manager before, get this right and don’t use sentimental value to employ our next manager

TBH I don't think the club can be afford to be too ambitious.
Also I think their stock has dropped in the outside world now SD has gone - we're just an 'average' club in the NL at the moment (which is pretty good compared to a few years ago) and we have to realise that. As I said in another post, I wouldn't be surprised if Strvs/Flits/maybe Macca (who's now had a few months of managerial experience) were given a chance.
If we are talking ambitiously, how about having a word with Gary Waddock on Saturday :-) ? I wonder if he fancies a new challenge.

Just a suggestion here chaps could we just stick with Strevs and co for a month before appointing a name or whoever and give the existing set up a chance to prove itself ? I am not being disrespectful but l am sure Hess knew about his move a while ago, and l just think the improved performances have been down to Strevs and the back room guys more than Hess. Therefore lets stick with this and take our time as l never thought Todd was given a long enough period to get his new players gelling, and after that Mr Donald went on knee jerk parade hiring and firing as we all know. Just a thought, as anew guy is going to want to change things and players and we dont have the cash for that, and the team seem really settled to me.

strevens is a great guy & am sure will do a good job as caretaker but we need to make a proper appointment for the long term. Lots of managers about and we don't have to pay megabucks to get a decent one
