First team physio Andy Cook has given his regular injury update ahead of our away trip to Maidstone.
“The last 2 to 3 weeks pleasingly have seen a number of the longer term injuries return to full training and back into contention.
Sam Togwell had been in training for several weeks, and it was great to see him featuring in our last two league games. He came through a good 50 minutes at Torquay which I was delighted with.
Ben Williamson also figured at Torquay, getting 30 minutes under his belt.
Ryan Cresswell has also been training for several weeks now and is continuing to regain his fitness with the squad.
It has been a frustrating time for Ryan, but right now he’s just pleased to be back training with the lads and I’m sure it won’t be long until we see him back in action with the first team.
Reda Johnson had returned to training just before Christmas, but unfortunately he suffered a setback with an injury to another area of his hamstring. It’s just over 3 weeks since the injury, and he has started some running drills along with his gym programme. He is making good progress.
Graham Stack suffered an adductor strain which resulted in him coming off at half time during the Woking game. He is making good progress with his rehab and should be available before long all being well.
Paul McCallum, who suffered an abdominal strain a couple of weeks ago, is also progressing well and could be back into some running soon.
Danny Hollands came off just before half time at Torquay with an adductor strain. Over 48 hours, it settled reasonably well. It looks to be relatively mild and we will continue to assess it over the next few days.
Michael Green will be having an operation this week on his ankle. We will have an idea of how long his recovery will be following the procedure, when we discuss what was done with his consultant.
Generally, it has been great to see players return to training and in contention for a place in the squad. The current set of injured players are all working well and progressing, so hopefully we should also see them return to full training relatively quickly.
Just one final thing – a quick note to wish Greener all the best for his operation this week. He is in good hands with the consultant who also operated on my ankle many years ago!”
