I was informed today of the passing off Tommy Whale. From 1989 until about 10 years ago Tommy was a wonderful servant of the club, being on the committee, being both Press Officer and Programme Editor, watching all of the teams in action whether first team, reserves or youth, getting local businesses interested in the club, helping the cleaning of the club with his wife Brenda and being regularly seen helping out at the club every weekday.
He also introduced many members of his family to the club and although he had not been well enough to visit the club for a long time it is still sad to hear of his passing.
He lived locally and had great affection for the town. He also scored lots of goals in local football.

Sorry to hear the news.
Remember getting lifts from him to games back in the wessex league days & I can vividly playing pool in Basingstokes club house before an under 18s cup game. circa 1997?
One of so many people who made a little contribution in helping the club get where it is today.

So sorry to hear this. I spent a lot of time working with Tommy producing the programme when I first got involved with the club. He used to write all the match reports, and helped me copy, collate & staple the programmes. Another unsung hero who played his part in the clubs history and helping het us where we are today. RIP Tommy

I am also so very sad to hear the news. I always knew he and Brenda would be there to support every youth team game, both home and away. Getting lifts whenever needed with nothing standing in their way. A super support to all aspects of the match day operation. In actual fact Eastleigh were the only County Youth team producing a programme throughout the 90s and early 00s and very much down to the support of Tommy and Brenda. Was also a major help to me on Reserve match days as well if the first team were not playing.
Real unsung heroes who make a club stand out from the pack. Brenda has my deepest sympathies, what stars the pair of them were.

Tommy was a lovely man, would do anything for anyone. His contribution to EFC should never be forgotten.
