Yes, Pompey appears to be off! Bognor are now tweeting that they are playing us next Sat (15th) at their place, kick off 1330. £10 to get in. *** EDIT - wrong. See below *** Here's the club statement...... www.eastleighfc.com/2017/07/11/pre-season-plans-rearranged/Trying to be positive, the Alton game sounds like a good idea, to get some practice on a 3G. As for the rest..... Hopefully the Basingstoke game won't be rained off tonight ;-) Not sure where the idea of 'extreme hot weather and thunderstorms in the next few days' comes from? Rain today, 20-22 degrees and dry for the rest of the week, according to the latest forecast?

Very disappointed in the club. Put off other stuff to do the Newport and Pompey games, and I feel that laying a new pitch on the eve of the new season is very poor planning and extremely unprofessional.

I'm gutted three games have now been called off! Was really looking forward to them, Pompey especially. Gutted for the club also, would have been a good source of income to contribute towards the pitch. Am a little nervous now however, as I feel the squad would have learned more about eachother and developed against football league teams than non league teams, but it is what it is. Looking forward to Basingstoke tonight!

I'm no expert at all, but with all those days of 30 degrees plus and lack of rain, I'm not surprised the seeding didn't go to plan. And then obviously at that point, a plan B was needed fast.

I know gardening things up to the point where if you plant a seed you water it, with hosepipes of a watering can if there's no rain. We always knew the pitch was bad, money spent on laying a whole new one after the last game instead of trying to do it on the cheap would've paid off in my.opinion. Now it seems to have backfired spectacularly and much revenue lost.
