And why not? Give it a go.

Looking at it purely from a selfish point of view it would obviously benefit us if we finish 6th or 7th and be bad for us if we finish 4th or 5th.
I must admit, I'm not in favour - I thought the old/current system was fine.
I guess its done in a bid to increase the excitement of the league as even the smallest team in the league might think they could sneak 7th place.
I suppose we will see how it all pans out!

There are some who would rather we go back to pre play off days with just the top two promoted. I congratulate the NL on trying something different. Yes there is the possibility of the 7th placed club getting promotion over the 2nd placed, but give it a go!

After a long 46-game season, this new format will add yet more to the matches they play. What is this other than another money-making exercise? The main problem is still there - that there are only two teams promoted, whereas in most other leagues there are three. This is just papering over the cracks. If they have to give the third worst team in FL2 yet another chance, then let them have a final playoff between them and the winner of a National League 3rd v 4th. It devalues the league for me if the seventh best team in the league still has a chance of getting promoted in preference to the second. Why bother with the 46 games? The only good thing is that if it goes down to seventh it gives us a better chance of making the playoffs

Reading the article it seems like all the games are just be one off affairs rather than the 2 legged semi finals we currently have.
Possibly the national league are hoping this is (somehow?!) a step in the direction of 3 up.
I'm guessing we would all be in favour of that :0)

Given the likelihood that we are probably not going to be one of the top 3 teams in terms of quality next season and the definite gulf between us and the top teams in the league in our 3 year experience. i think that not having to play one of the better teams over two legs would be to our advantage even if we are away from home for the single game.

I don't really mind either way. I suspect very rarely if ever, will the team who finish 7th go up.
You have to admit its a helluva more sensible system than the one in Rugby Union, where the team who won the league (Wasps), now have to play a semi final play off against Leicester, who finished 18 points behind them in 4th. If they win that they then have to play a final against someone else who finished below them, and only if they win that are they crowned champions. Now that IS a stupid system.

Frankly rugby has a stupid scoring system so not surprising they can't come up with a sensible league system.

Our leauge system is stupid 2 up 4 down imo it should be 2 automatic and one play off place and 3 come down from leauge 2 the same as all the other leagues

Yes high time The National League pushed for three promoted clubs to The football League, it is the only block in the pyramid. Progressive clubs are being held back while clubs clearly struggling are allowed to keep hanging on because of the old pals act. Three down has to come, why delay it.
Once you get three going up, the PO will revert back to as it is now, 2 legs semi-finals, and final between 3rd to 7th club. This one leg idea is just a temporary thing. As I understand it they still want the finals to be on neutral ground and this proposal is also on the AGM agenda I believe next month.
