Unless my info is incorrect why are Gloucester City in The National South when they play at Evesham? This puts them further north than Brackley for sure and Leamington possibly?

Apart from Solihull Moors, there's a distinct lack of teams from the midlands in the NL & has been for a while I'd say.

Whatever the FA do, they'll get heavily criticised, its always been the case and always will be the case. What I would say, is when a team, to help the pyramid system work, ends up in a league with more travelling than anyone else, it does make sense to give them a cash payment to help sweeten the pill.

Of the 4 towns/cities mentioned, Royal Leamington Spa (to give it it's full name) is the furthest north, followed by Evesham, Brackley and then Gloucester is furthest south. Gloucester have been in the NLS before, whereas Brackley haven't, so there's a precedent there. One assumes that both clubs would have been sounded out beforehand about their preferences. Also worth considering that Evesham are in the Southern League. No black and white, or easy way around it, really.

They've got Ebbsfleet/Chelmsford & Halifax/Chorley in the national league, even though the list was published a day after those finals had taken place, that's a bit daft.

IMHO the league pyramid is a little slanted against midlands teams. You've got North/South at step 2 which leaves midlands clubs like Worcester on the edge of either league (they have featured in both). Ok there is a not a lot that can be done about that.
I think at Step 3 they get a rougher deal. Not sure 3 goes into 2 very well. There isn't really an easy league for midlands teams to go into. Ryman league is generally an M25 & Kent league, Southern league for the rest of the south & Northern league for the North. Someone like Kettering would probably be on the edge of all 3 divisions.
Really need another midlands based league which would give lower teams an incentive to progress.
I think my main problem is it just seems mathematically incongruous.

Is the plan to introduce both a New step 3 and a New step 4 league for 2018/19?

Yes. One to be run by the Southern league, the other by the Isthmian.

Ok so they've choosen Gloucester City to go into National North despite the fact they play at Evesham United's ground. Is that ground graded to accept step two level? I don't think Gloucester would be able to enter the PO's if they reach the top five, they have no say on the ground if they are just paying rent to play there. Anyone know what would actually happen in such a case?
