A very small tip toe rather than a step.
The FA, premier league & everyone else that runs the game are spineless. Clubs rule the roost.

Truly a daft idea, most teams adapt when down to 10 men anyway, so why send a player off for 10 minutes? Totally pointless.

I understand this will be trialled at Step 7 & below, which by my reckoning is Hampshire League & below. How much power do those clubs have, Bomber? This is a trial, so why not give it a go? If successful it might be extended to other leagues, if not, then probably not. The majority of fans seem to think the FA are pretty useless & things should change, but as soon as they do announce changes, there's a stream of negativity about it. It won't affect our games so I think it it's a small thing which is worth a go.

I agree teams will adapt, however, the threat of the sin bin may well stop many offences in the first place, which I guess is more of the result the FA are after. Personally I think it should be extended beyond dissent to time wasting, violent conduct and simulation.

Hardly ever are these broken rules punished, so why the need to trial anything? Just apply the laws of the game! The Laws of the Game are actually quite simple: if a player abuses or insults a referee or his assistants he must be dismissed.

I think county league matches these days have just one official, as do Sunday and youth league games. Those referees have to have eyes in the back of their head already. I wouldn't think expecting them to sin bin people and count to ten minutes while everything else is going on is realistic. Future scenes come to mind of the 10 man team conceding a goal when they have had a player off the pitch for ten and a half minutes and the manager has been screaming at the referee for two minutes to let him back on. Chaos. Also the league secretaries might be sorry to lose the revenue from yellow card fines. I can't help wondering how much consultation there has been before making the decision to go ahead with the "trial".

That would be interesting Mark, you cannot replace him from the bench I assume otherwise it defeats the object of sin binning a goalie, but the goalie cannot be exempt from such a rule surely?

What we would see is a 10 minute break, with no further action ( ie. no more bans for 5/6/7 yellows ), for Yellow card offences which make players think twice about `Taking one for the team`
Try a goalie temporary sub.

Ah it is dissent only....for sin bin....and who will Marshall the sin bin area? Another official, in which case more money having to be paid at step 7 which they can't really afford.

What happens if sending a player (or more than 1) to the sin bin leaves a team with less than 7 players on the field? Does the. Game get abandoned?
