Well that wasn't the Lincoln i was expecting hope the same team comes out 2nd half. We've played well if Willow had his boots on straight we'd be ahead. Wonder if the Tranmere score will inspire them. COME ON EASTLEIGH

Well a while ago on this forum, we had quite a debate about style of football verses the result; some at least, wanted to be entertained, even if that meant their team losing. I don't subscribe to that view and obviously neither do Lincoln. Lets be fair, Lincoln play their game very well, its the percentages game. They hit the pull long, play for free kicks and throw ins, its all about knock downs. Inevitably the goal game from a set play, and watching Lincoln attack, you got neck ache. When they needed to, the players went down to break up play, and having scored the goal, they played by the corner flag. In fact for the last 6 minutes I don't think the ball went further than a few feet from the flag. For Lincoln, job done. The several hundred Lincoln fans didn't sound as though they cared how they won, and in their shoes I wouldn't have cared either.
As For Eastleigh,I thought we played well, second half especially so, certainly we were the only ones trying to play football, and we were desperately unlucky not to score from a header just before they did. So we played well, as much as we could good, open entertaining football. Was I happy at the final whistle? no pig sick. So did you leave happy at our performance or sick that we lost? I'll take winning the Lincoln way every week next year. What do you think?

Disappointing result but an excellent football match which was decided by Stack making the wrong stay or go decision, which was a shame because he had MoM performance besides that. Both Stack & Lincoln’s keeper made some great stops in an entertaining, cut and thrust match.
With not much more to play for I was looking for a performance and I saw one to please

I left happy with our performance and sick that we lost.
Expected Lincoln to be a lot better but they have 9 games in 29 days and it looks like they'll have to win virtually all of them, so their fans have to expect performances like today.
Tranmere were the best team at the lane this season but Lincoln got the same amount of points!

With nothing really to play for, it was great to see the players playing well and with pride and passion in their steps.
Disappointing to lose again but I felt a whole lot better at full time than I did last week. We had some great shots on goal - particularly in the first half and Stack deserved MOTM.

They should be motivated, playing against the non-league team of the season, but RH has a job to do today, I think. They'll have to be on top form against the Imps - if they are, they may run them surprisingly close - if not, I see it being something like 0-3. ======================================================================================================================= Credit to RH and the team - Lincoln will be relieved to get the win, we can feel slightly unlucky, but that's the sort of game champions have to win in order to be champions. The goal was rather scrappy but, again, it's the sort of goal you work on, and work for, and was typical of the Imps getting their central defenders involved in set pieces and attacks wherever possible. They may be a bit slow together (Wilson showed them up for speed a bit in the first half - if only he could finish better!) but Raggett has eight goals this season, and his winner at Burnley in the FA Cup was not dissimilar to yesterday's. My impression was that Stack had no chance of getting through six defenders to get the corner, so he did nothing, and the ball rebounded at an unfortunate angle into the net. Stack looked dodgy on crosses at times, but made three outstanding saves and I've seen MOTM awards given for less. Not least because of the way he bounced back from the D&R debacle. I thought Reid and Dugdale did a great job against Rhead and Angol - the latter impressed me with his skill - the midfield did well, Close and Matthews looked good, and Togwell continues to improve and keep things ticking. Macca did very well in the first half against the tall defenders. There is some talk around the fans that Lincoln keeper Farman has been known to go down injured at certain times in order to break up play and allow a Cowley tactical talk. The Raggett one in the first half was at a convenient time; he was getting a lot of stick from the home fans for staying down so long, but he did have several mouthfuls of blood. Rhead did seem to go down twice in the second half rather suspiciously, though. I was amused to see Eastleigh wasting time at the start of the second half and then complaining when Lincoln did the same in the last few minutes. Not sure why Wood didn't get a red card for what looked like a shocking tackle on Close just after the Lincoln goal. All in all, a good game, Eastleigh can be very encouraged with that; City got the points and showed the necessary durability for champions. Tranmere looked better here, but we weren't in a good place at that point. The title race is very close but at present Lincoln have a game in hand and two easier games in the next week or so.

No shame in defeat yesterday against a team thad had to win. With a little more luck we could have taken a point & I think we'd all have been very happy with that before the game. I thòught we were less threatening once we'd taken off Matthews & Willow, but maybe they had run themselves into the ground at that stage. Clearly Sean Raggett took a painful blow to the mouth that needed attention, but the referee should have made him go off the pitch for treatment. How many did LC have on their bench? Looked like 12 or more! And the size of their squad on the back of the programme! Still good luck to them. If they're not Champions, they would appear to have the resources & big match experience to get promoted via the play-offs.

It could be seen as one of those games about which it is sometimes said that you can learn more about your team in defeat than when they win. It might be useful to find a way to break up the time wasting tactic of hiding the ball at the corner flag. Lincoln were so adept at that at the end of the game, anyone would think they must spend time on that on the training ground. And that's possibly the kind of attention to detail that wins them points. Anyone seeing their final whistle celebrations and not knowing otherwise might have got the impression they had just won the league. I think they knew they were a bit lucky to win the match.
