It's a sobering thought and i'm not being negative just thankful that the team have turned their form around in the last 4 games but if we hadn't got the 10 points we would have 43 points and be equal on points with Torquay who would have a game in hand. A big thank you to RH and the boys for making Saturday's a day to look forward to again although i for one will support the Spitfires win, draw or lose.

There have been some comments on here in the not too distant past, that we were, or were becoming a joke club. It was never the case. If you want an example of a "joke" club, look no further than Newport county, who time after, after time, make the same mistakes and get back into the same situation. Unbelievable that they keep doing the same thing. Leyton Orient are a very different scenario. For many years a second tier club, with traditionally a core base of support of 4-5,000. I cannot believe they will go out of existence. Certainly having them in our league, would be a big plus. A proper football club.

The O's .......... and a club that has played in the top flight (albeit 50 or 60yrs ago). Daggers v Orient would be a good game to watch next season, if Orient stay afloat. Imagine if they'd won their legal challenge to the Olympic stadium ..... now that would have been an away game worth going to !!

RapidDecline - Having been to the London stadium for a game I can assure you it's not an atmosphere worth going to and that was a 50k plus attendance. There is little or no atmosphere at games, for a lower division game it would be even worse. The stadium is not suited to football at all.

I think that the comments about Newport are harsh. Since the formation of the Conference South they are one of only a few clubs to achieve two promotions and reach the football league.
They also previously had their battles with the Welsh F A which meant that to remain in the English pyramid they had to play on an English ground, which is not an easy thing to cope with.
I generally do not like the term "joke club" as I think that many clubs are good in some aspects and not so good in others.

I agree, WHU sold their soul moving away from Boleyn - but just the thought of Eastleigh playing a league game in a 50,000+ all seater stadium is mind blowing in the scheme of things

Don't think there is any getting away that we were becoming a joke, SD saw that and reacted. Thankfully we have managed to patch some results together against some average clubs to pull away from danger. We shouldn't get carried away, at the end of the day this season has still been a huge disappointment. Problems still exist, though now I have faith that they will get resolved.

I would not classify Barrow or Gateshead as "average" clubs!

There was a lot of despair about the prospect of relegation in the later stages of Martin Allens reign. When he left on Feb 22 we had played 33 games and got 42 points.
We would have had to lose all 8 successive games since then to have finally (today) dropped into the relegation zone.
Just puts things into perspective a little.

No, no no and no again. We weren't. We made some mistakes over managerial appointments. All of them were reasonable decisions at the time, and its only in hindsight we can see what a mistake they were. With RH we finally made a right choice that has worked, and now we can take our time and hopefully make the right appointment going forward. Our ground has come on superbly, we have paid all our bills and owe no-one anything. We have a loyal base of 800-1000 supporters, and an average gate of over 2,000. We had a very poor run, and are now stuck in the middle of the table. None of that makes the club a joke, for joke see Newport, Portsmouth, Aldershot, Salisbury etc.
