After reading comments on twitter, Facebook and the forum about greeners departure there seems to be some negatives from the fans. It seems like certain individuals and groups of fans like a good old moan. Last week after fans heard Stewart Donald's interview on the radio everyone was excited about the future of Eastleigh. Then Martin Allen did a very good talk in front of the media team about his plans and what goes on behind the scenes etc everybody started raving about his talk. Now greener has gone and certain fans just want a good old moan and start to put the club down. Yes greener was a fantastic player for Eastleigh and a likeable lad. Unfortunately things change in football and people move on. Let's all stick together stop the boring moaning and get behind the club. I am behind the manager and excited about the future plans of Eastleigh. Spitfires stick together......

Nothing wrong with having a moan being disappointed or having an opinion different then yours. Personally i have more of an issue with people telling others how they should be reacting and what to say and do.

We moan because we care. Stop with the #%€$ licking and remember these players have helped get us where we are today. We used to be close to the players so for some of us we class them as friends.

Before I came we had Jordan, Brown, Forbes, Green etc who were all fans favourites. Since then we have signed players Like Strevens, Southam, Parts, Yemi, Reason, Beckwith, Todd etc. All players who have been firm favourites and were good clubman etc etc.
Lots of people were upset when we moved on some of the players i inherited and I remember being told we would not be able to replace Jordan etc and we ended up with Southam. We replaced those players with the right players over time and approximately two years on had a wonderful promotion and a great season. I am sure there are some of the existing players and new players to come that will fill the void just as Beckwith did with Jordan or McCallister did with Forbes or Southam with Brown etc etc.
It is football - it happens and players move on. The club is in transition and I was as close and friendly with these players as anyone however in the same way the squad was assessed by Richard and almost completely changed to get us to the next level then perhaps the same is happening.
What I would say is I hope history repeats itself as I very clearly remember being second bottom and losing 3-1 away around xmas in Richard's first season and the fans were questioning things - understandably as they are now also. I had appointed a friend who new nothing was the shout. We then went on a fantastic run for 2 and a half years and the club grew and the fans and players built a bond. We may be at the start of that journey again - i hope so. The fans need convincing - just like they did before - it didn't happen overnight but we got there and I think we will again.
Richard assessed the club and said we needed to be more professional and change. Martin now has the same view Richard had - it is just part of our development. It is painful and disappointing and only time will tell if I have appointed the right man. However the squad that are left and the new players we are signing along with the management team are all doing what they think is right for the club and giving it 100% - hopefully in time they will all win you over.

I am in my 60th season of watching football - I started at Malden Town FC c1957 in the old Surrey Senior League - Over the intervening years I've seen my clubs rise and fall and, as in the case of Malden Town, fold. Players come and go and if we're lucky we see marginally more promotions than relegations.
Stewart has worked wonders over the last 5 seasons and through his generosity we have been taken on an adventure that has been totally unexpected. I for one, am more than prepared to accept that change was needed. I believe that Martin is the right manager to take us to the next level - but I have learnt over 60 years that nothing in football comes easy, especially at this level, the Lincolns, Lutons, Wrexhams etc are proof of that.
Eastleigh FC will succeed. Stay the course.

Anytime a club gets a new manager they will bring in their own players and usually get rid of a fans favorite in the process. I am as disappointed as anyone that Greener has gone but I can see the bigger picture. I remember when Dossie came on board and built a virtually complete new team at the expense of some very long standing players. If Facebook etc, had been around in those days, he would probably have been crucified in social media, but we survived, moved onwards & upwards VERY quickly and new fans favorites were established. As Stewart said, since then we've seen numerous favorite players move on, to be replaced with new favorites, many that have interacted with the fans just as their predecessors did.
This isn't kissing anyone's arse - It's the cycle of life at a football club. Wish Greener , Jai etc all the best, thank them of their time here, treasure the memories, and move on.
