Score: 2 v 0
Team: Flitney,Partington,Cresswell,Johnson,Green,Howells,Drury,Coulson,Dawson,Mandron,Constable.
Looking for another dominant performance although conditions again will be challenging.
Also have to consider Southport's new Manager factor - Steve Burr - they will be out to impress

2v1 probably similar to the last two games. Southport will huff and puff but our quality will shine through. Just hope it's better than last year's game which was on TV. Watching paint dry was more entertaining than that!

Providing no one is crocked, that looks like a good call to me ballboy.
Does anyone else have a view re the wing halves playing contra footed? It's worked well so far but I just wonder if they could be switching during the game. Howells' left foot curling away from the keeper is a decent weapon.
And Dawson produced a superb run to the byline at one point in the last home game and just ran out of feet when there wasn't space to get the ball back on his right peg.

I think Taylor will start ahead of Luke.
Totally agree re the wingers they have both got into positions for crosses in the last two home games then not been able to deliver because the ball is on the wrong foot. We've got away with it to a certain degree and when they do get in position to cross have delivered a couple of beauties. Do worry that when they come across better quality defenders they won't be given the opportunity though.
Would be good to see what happens if they do swap during the game.

Luke & Parts are such a good partnership on the right side which is what you need - partnerships, partnerships that can interchange roles
2 On the Right 2 on the left 2 in midfield 2 in central defence ( with the keeper as a third member ) 2 upfront

Not a great game. No player was poor or outstanding. Shooting boots definitely left at home today. Fair result.

Seriously tinpot announcing the saints score whilst we are in play. Not a great first half not suprised Southport are set up to get a point though I thought that too. We all know Eastleigh is a second club for a number of fans but to broadcast it is embarrassing. I also think the attendance should be announced in the second half as well. As for the game it was marginally better than last year's spectacle but still drab. Credit to Southport, I thought they did well for a point. There is clearly improvement under Moore but there is a long way to go before this team is title challenging.

Just listened to RM's post match interview & it appears he is trying to get a proper goalscorer in. He alluded to the fact that we don't have a partnership up front, have we ever had one? We did not move the ball quick enough & it's disappointing to say we got the result we deserved today. Definitely 2 points dropped.
Tough tests on Tuesday & next Saturday. 4 points will be a good return from those games.

RM had the task of getting the talented bunch of players we have firing on all cylinders and, quite rightly, has started at the back. We now have a defence that is second to none ( 1 long range goal in 5 matches )
The midfield is coming along and is creating chances ( I assume Jai is injured )
Now he has to attend to the attack. JC and Mandron ( who is, at last, passing the ball instead of trying to beat everyone ) are good players but have not clicked together and Ryan Bird is not mobile enough and cannot hold the ball up well enough.
WE were not great today but really should still of picked up 3 points. If we keep picking up points from now util everything clicks then we will be there or there about next May
