Are we going to sign that LB who played at Gosport then? According to some who saw the game he is a player of some quality so why haven't we snapped him up if he's supposed to be that good? Do we have cover for Greener?

He did have a good game, the Paraguayan fella Huth was man of the match for torquay in their win over West Bromwich Albion Monday night so maybe he's off there.

Chris Todd, in answer to the question about signing the left back who played at Privett Park (Barrow?) said that our current left backs remain Michael Green with Jack Masterton as a "number 2" (presumably a number 2 number 3), with Jake Howells also able to play in that position.
So he is not signing anyone else in that position right now though the point was made a number of times that things can change through the season as there are no longer transfer window restrictions in our league.
I thought Barrow was good but you have to be exceptional to get into Eastleigh this season and in fairness it would be hard to make a call from the Gosport friendly.

Not sure why you would consider the Gosport game a hard call when judging Scott Barrow, Gosport gave us a far better game and a far sterner test than both Barnet & Northampton did & Barrow not only dealt with everything defensively, his attacking play and even more impressively, his distribution of the ball, were first class. He got up and down the pitch just like Greener does, but i felt maybe looked slightly better defensively aware than Greener is.
Good to hear that Masterton is being considered as our no.2 LB, but if that's the case, i'm not sure why he is being sent out on loan (which i understand was also discussed at the forum?). Howells cannot play left back, hes been poor there, that's not his strength. Yes he can "fill in", but why have "fill in" players when you can sign a Scott Barrow who will do the job properly and perhaps even enhance what we already have. That's where we always go wrong at Eastleigh FC, we start putting square pegs into round holes, rather than bring in the specialists. Dont get me wrong, I'd love to see Masterton break into the first team and by that i mean consistently get into the matchday 16, and come onto the pitch in regular league games, but as much as i would like to see that, hand on heart, i just dont see that happening this season, nor next. That's not a poor reflection on the player, but a poor reflection on us as a club, never really trusting in youth and in truth, why would we when we can go out and bring a proven/experienced player in on £XXX a month. The fact that we no longer have a transfer window, means these kids have even less chance of getting the odd game, because we can get a new player in whenever we feel we need it. And that's why i feel Jack will not feature in a league game of any note this season, because if Greener did get injured. We would just go out and bring a new LB in, we wouldnt go with Jack. No matter how much Toddy says he would not hesitate to put him in, it wont happen. The same way that Hilly said he would not hesitate to put Lewis Noice in, but the minute we had an Injury to Flitney we went out and got Michael Poke in on loan! With the squad we have got, the likes of Jack M, Jack S & Tony Lee etc are going to be nowhere near the 16 and that is why they will be pushed out on loan. We'll say its for fitness and learning/experience, but the truth is, we have more than 16 other senior players, who will always get in ahead of them & there are a few senior pro's who will not even make the 16....so these lads have no chance.

Stewart Donald gave quite a comprehensive and rational explanation of the club's youth policy at the forum Paul. I would not want to try to repeat it here as I don't think I could do it justice but it all made sense to me and it seemed to register with everyone else there.
As for the Gosport game I like Gosport and always look for their results. I would agree that they did better in that game than either Barnet or Northampton did in the previous friendlies. They were not though playing against the Eastleigh first team.

Jack S is going out on loan, not Jack M. They were very clear last night that he will be the starting reserve left back (if that makes sense...). SD gave a very good explanation about the youth situation last night as well, made a lot of sense.

Glad to hear the youth were discussed and a comprehensive explanation given by SD at the forum. So we'll wait and see, but as a betting man, i feel these kids will not feature for more that 10 mins in any meaningful league games this season. If they do, i will drink out of plastic glasses all next season.... If the likes of Huddart, Yemi, Dugdale, Essam, Lafayette, Dawson, Pipe, Bird & Strevens (that's 9 players, outside of the potential starting 11) who are going to be vying for the 5 places on the bench, then i simply cannot see how our youth are going to get anywhere near it, no matter what gets stated in a comprehensive & rationale explanation. The sheer numbers of more senior players show the youth will not get into the matchday 16. Whatever explanation SD may have given, i'm yet to see any of our youth players break through in the last 5 years. I'm not getting at SD, as i said in my other post, why would you realistically bother with trying to get the Youth into the first team, when you can go out and sign any player you want and need? Example: Why sign Huddart as an inexperienced 19yr old keeper, when we could have kept Lewis Noice, as a reasonably more experienced 19yr old keeper who has at least played a few first team games at this level and the level below. Being an Arsenal development player, means zero real game experience, yet we went for that, over what we already had from our own youth product. That says it all to me, & i do not see those kind of decisions reversing anytime soon.
Perhaps someone from the TSSC committee took notes and can publish what was discussed on here, within reason (dont give secrets away). That's what a TSSC secretary should be doing. I know the meeting was only last night, but people who could not make the meeting, would like to know what was discussed and the TSSC have never done a very good job of keeping the fans enlightened with timely meeting minutes, or indeed, often, no real minutes from previous meetings at all. Not sure why someone doesn't sit at the meeting with an Ipad and type as they go, Then agree with the TSSC chairman, Toddy & SD what can be published after the meeting, then hit send....Not difficult, & would give the TSSC so much more kudos if they could get comprehensive minutes out in a timely fashion.
Can't wait to see JM on the bench tomorrow...Really looking forward to a great game. Toddle-pip.

In all honesty I don't think there was much "new" stuff to come out of the forum. I had pen and paper to do a summary but didn't write much down.
In summary:
*There were about 70 people present. *The general aim was to get the new clubhouse ready for the turn of the year with fans being involved in the latter part of the build once steels and other "guts" of the building had been completed by the contractor. *Other ground improvements are in the pipeline and the club hope to begin work on these next summer. *Chris Todd was happy with the squad assembled and optimistic for the season ahead, he was also mindful that there may be senior players unhappy at not being in the squad and thought 1 or even 2 players may depart in due course. *Stewart spoke about segregation this season. The plan is to have 4 or 5 games unsegregated. *The youth policy was spoken about at length and SD explained that we have had countless players "poached" by Bournemouth, Pompey & Saints. SD & CT were confident we currently had 4 players with genuine chances of making the grade in the coming couple of seasons. The substantial youth funding for football league teams was also mentioned. *Dan Harding situation was mentioned. *SD spoke about TSSC and urged fans to join and get involved in it.
Please add anything anyone if its been missed out.

1) Scoreboard was on site and will be installed within a month - in corner by the existing Executive portakabin 2) Need for posters/advertising in Eastleigh centre - TSSC members to put up in shops/pubs etc Possibility of stall at the Market 3) SD advised intention for share issue but needs support of 2 more Board members. Hopes to be available to issue in next few weeks. Likely that there would be a minimum cost around £500 to anyone who wants to buy
