Under 200 seats left as of 16.30 which is a pretty amazing response. I note that Newport haven't put tickets on sale to home fans yet. Am sure EFC has already/will shortly be speaking to Newport about a further allocation of tickets. I guess Newport's reponse may be "come back to us when you sold your full allocation" - which at the current rate may not be far away! The ground holds about 8000 and they have not had a crowd of over 5000 for 18 months so would think we have a decent chance of getting a further allocation. It would be in the covered Bisley stand which seems to be divided into 7 blocks of around 300 seats, so quite easy to give us another 1/2/3 blocks. footballgroundguide.com/leagues/england/league-two/rodney-parade-newport-county.htmlThe other stand we have is the uncovered South stand behind the goal: footballgroundguide.com/leagues/england/league-two/rodney-parade-newport-county.htmlThe only other option (which seems unlikely) is if Newport bought in some temporary stands which they have done before, this would presumably only be a possible if they thought the game would sell out. Not sure we had ever sold out an away end before. We were allocated around 300 at Stourbridge and took around 300, but not sure if was an actual sell out. Our best away following to date is 1,428 we took to Brentford, IIRC our allocation for that day was something like 1700. Anyway - watch this space!

Is there any more news on getting a bigger allocation?

No news yet.
Newport are putting home tickets on sale tomorrow. Will be interesting to see if they put seats on sale next to the away section (ie the seats that would be part of an extra allocation). If they do that would suggest they are not going to give us any more tickets.

I can’t see any way that there will be anymore away tickets. There are home season ticket holders in the seats next to the away block so the allocation will stay as it is now. The only time temporary away seating was added was for the visits of Tottenham and Man City in the FA Cup. The away allocation for local matches against the likes of Bristol R, Swindon and the high profile game v Wrexham next month remains at just over a 1000.

Is that allowed? I thought you had to give us at least 15% which would be 1200.

Away capacity is 1031. Football capacity at RP is 7850 so 15% would be 1177. However, the FA rule says ‘up to 15%’ with an FA spokesperson explaining last season ‘however, this is subject to the local Safety Advisory Group (SAG) agreeing to that ticket allocation number.‘ With season ticket holders having until Dec 28 to purchase their tickets there isn’t the capacity in the ground to provide safely for more away fans. The away section is very clearly defined according to EFL rules in terms of entries, exits, permanent segregation structures etc. which can’t be arbitrarily moved according to the number of travelling supporters. It’s a great effort that you are bringing so many but there won’t be any more tickets.

Is that allowed? I thought you had to give us at least 15% which would be 1200. Don't forget some clubs like empty seats. Newport had under 3600 home fans Saturday, they'll get less than that v us. But won't give us anymore according to county1 because ST holders who's seats don't count for this game will want to sit in their usual spot. Pro active clubs would be telling them to move for 1 game

surely if we want 15% we are entitled to 15%? Home teams can give more (we gave Reading circa 28%) or less than 15 % if both teams agree, but are obliged to give 15% if the away team wants it. That is my understanding. If its just "up to 15%" then you could just have given us 200 tickets as that is also "up to 15%". I note that there is a small extra section of the Bisley stand as well as a section of the Compeed stand which are not currently being offered to Home fans. www.eticketing.co.uk/newportcountyafc/EDP/Event/Index/143

With respect, I was trying to explain the logistics of the situation with the away end and the fact that it holds 1031 supporters. I realise that we are not going to sell out the home tickets but I don’t think it’s hard to understand that you can’t randomly give extra sections depending on numbers regardless of services offered and h & s issues. As I said, there are specific entrance and exit points for away fans that you will see on the ground guidelines. There are also permanent barriers and restrictions in place that cannot be moved to allow an extra 200. That would have health and safety implications for catering facilities, toilets and walkways for home supporters in and out of the stadium. This has all been agreed along stringent EFL guidelines with police, emergency services etc. Unfortunately, it’s not possible at this level to simply give another few hundred tickets in another part of the ground. A similar situation arises when Swindon and Wrexham sell out their allocation and is not unusual in the EFL. We sold our allocation of tickets for Wrexham this Saturday in two hours and understood that we couldn’t then ask Wrexham if we could have more seats in their brand new temporary stand elsewhere in the ground. I realise they will sell out anyway but you simply can’t have groups of away fans randomly seated in sections of the ground for all the reasons mentioned. We had a crowd of 7326 for our ‘great escape’ match v Notts Co in 2017, they didn’t sell their away allocation but we understood that we never going to get an extra 400 tickets in the away end! I’ve really done my best to explain the situation so will leave it there for this forum. Good luck for the rest of the season - apart from 6 Jan of course!
