While I get the logic, its always disappointing that local matches in journey terms tends to be Midweek on Tuesday night for away supporters benefits. So the home club lose a fair bit of revenue from away supporters who would otherwise go on a Saturday at Barnet, Bromley and Oxford City. I'd have pencilled them in for away matches for sure. We're bound to suffer for Southend United away on bank holiday August weekend because the trains will strike, an opportunity to spend a weekend up in smoke!!! Happy that Dorking and Maidenhead are Saturday games away, but we can't please everyone. Gateshead or Hartlepool could have been midweek because even on a Saturday very few will travel, so the fixtures could have been worked a bit better in that respect. Chesterfield may be title favourites, but we are the value bet, I think we're top four at the very least.

I think the strangest thing about our midweek fixtures ie 7.45 kickoffs is that before Christmas five out of six are at home and after Christmas all three are away.
I expect the club will run coaches to the midweek away games which I expect are doable by train if you do not mind arriving home at 1am in the morning. When I travelled to away games on a regular basis I can remember travelling by train to sT Albans and Maidenhead in midweek.
If the longer trips were scheduled for midweek it increases the likelihood of the expense of an overnight stay for the club and I do not think although I may be wrong that all players at this level are full time.
As far as railway strikes are concerned they have the potential to affect any team playing away on the date they occur.
