Drab game but did the job.If our away form was half as good as playing at home we would be challenging this season.

My opinion: The ref was unbelievably bad, even by National League standards. Abrahams clearly hooked his leg round a defender and dived when in the penalty area. The ref fell for it, but gave a free-kick just outside. The turning point came when Whitehall clearly dived looking for a penalty, their man was clearly unhappy, and Whitehall went down as if he had been poleaxed. Not convinced there was contact. But red card and penalty given. I never thought I'd say it, but VAR would have been useful! Their man should have got at least a yellow when he went in from behind on Abrahams just before the break - nothing. Will Evans should have got three yellow cards in the second half, but he got only one. Add to that much pendantry over throws/free-kicks and a reluctance to show yellow cards before an hour had gone, it was a wonder there wasn't more trouble on the pitch. Would like to hear Luke Garrard's comments on the match. I'm sure Mr. B will emphasise our battling qualities (not heard his interview yet).
To the football: we were solid and this was a good result against a decent team, in the third round of the FA Cup again. The match probably had 0-0 written all over it apart from the penalty. We had a defensive line up with Atangana and Cisse in front of the back four but on this occasion I felt this was the right one, the front two battled well all day, Rutherford did well as wing back. Lloyd looked promising.

I have seen Luke Garrard's interview on the Boreham Wood twitter feed. He said he was proud of the effort put in by his side in the second half, but admitted Eastleigh deserved to be ahead at the break. He did not say much about the referee and admitted that he would look at the video of the penalty.
I like hantslondoner's unbiased stance.
Swcond home game in three where a penalty which resulted in a red card had a crucial impact in the game.

I think we got lucky with the penalty/red card incident. Whilst the Boreham wood player did shove Whitehall it seemed a harsh red.
Watching it live I thought the ball was dead at the time so it couldn’t be a penalty. Anyway we got lucky with that one!
Overall it was a fairly typical home performance from this season: not particularly inspiring but fairly solid and a ground out 3 points.

The less I say about that ref and how he managed to be appointed to referee National League games the better.
I do have to admit that we started with some neat moves at times and, though there were dubious changes in the set up later in the game, there does seem to be a decent team spirit.
I have been unconvinced about the current management, (see another thread) but I do believe that LB has a good rapport with his players.
I would like to know though why Hesketh, Mertin and McKiernan were named in neither starting line-up nor on the bench.

He mentioned after the game 2 with Covid and 2 with chest infections. Camp was named on bench but obviously never coming on when he says he has played Rutherford at right back and that the lad has never played there before. Also missing Panter and Oyenuga as well as the three you mention. As Harry Redknapp would always say 'down to bare bones'.
With all that in mind, a very good win although obviously the sending off and resulting penalty played a huge part.

Here's hoping it's not a metatarsal, or any other kind of fracture.

Looking at the highlights the pen award and sending off looks well dodgy.
Of course I may be wrong and it may be just the angle looking at.

Boreham Wood are very good at being very dirty and cynical. A horrible side. added to a **** ref was a recipe for another lose to um. Iv always said we as a football team are too nice. Loved Ben House when he was here. Saturday we matched BW at not being nice. Whitehall and Will Evans was good fun to watch. As danny wound Mr Evans up continually. How Evans stayed on the pitch only the ref will know. Who ever got Rutherford in our club, thanks. We have found another gem. Now if we can get the basics better away from home.

Jamal Fyfield included in tonight’s Boreham Wood line up v Oldham Athletic. Has his ban been rescinded?
