No programme for tonight's game. Apparently it is on line only but no social media publicising it and no obvious link on website. How sad and poor admin.

Yes, complete surprise, as you say, no mention on social media either. Wonder if it's a permanent decision?
I understand the trend is for programmes to go online, the club could have told us why they made their decision, or - perish the though - even asked our opinion.
Didn't it go up from £2 to £3 recently?

Yep went up this season but at least they added a little more content. It has been poor for a good while though, but always bought one as Ifelt it was a way of supporting the club as well as a momento of the game.

Had an good reply from Tom and on current print cost v sales they could have been well over £10k down so understandable. On line will appear shortly. Think Tom has a lot on his plate so perhaps understandable comms had slipped. Maybe we need a few more volunteers round the club to help.

I’m not happy in the direction the club is going at the moment, regarding moving away from the traditional side of the game. First No proper match day tickets and now No programmes. I went to York City recently, they have built a brand new stadium and have kept the traditional side of things such as tickets and programmes. The communication around this season’s programmes have been poor. Not being informed about a 50% increase in the price and then stop printing programmes without having the replacement in place is very poor. It was previously stated that it could of led to a 10k deficit, but it might not. Sponsorship surely cover most of the cost. Our average gates are down at the moment, so why don’t the club reduce the number of programmes being printed, if it’s about wastage. Finally our biggest away day to date was Bolton Wanderers. Just imagine if we turned up and there was no programmes and your only souvenir of the game was a flimsy till receipt that may or may not made it back with you to Eastleigh. Teams like Stourbridge come to Eastleigh thinking that we’re a big non league club, but we now don’t offer any of the fundamental basics of the beautiful game. Off to Oldham Athletic tomorrow to get myself a programme!.

Eastleigh still did teamsheets for the Yeovil game - that's a souvenir if you want it. Admittedly, not as good as a programme.
Our reported average gates are down, yes. I'm a little dubious as how much they have really gone down, my impression is that they were overreported in previous seasons, more accurate or possibly even underreported this season. That's only my impression, mind. It's harder to estimate a crowd when two-thirds of the green stand is empty, so it looks more crowded anyway.
Absolutely, communication with the fans could be a lot better - as spitfiresteve says, a few more volunteers would be welcome.

There's a simple solution to this, add the cost of the programme into the match ticket cost and give it away for free!
They do this at a lot of German clubs.
The programme doesn't have to be a glossy tome, it only needs a few pages with info on opposition and players names on the back.
Yet another downward spiral for the game we have now joined.

The 'programme' should be covered cost wise by customer base + sponsors who pay to be seen on that programme. It's not rocket science.
Most clubs have a foldable A4/3 sheet which becomes a pamphlet, just has teams on, a welcome message from relevant people and full of sponsors. Done

I actually submitted an article for the Michael Green Testimonial match, but it was not use, and I get the impression that they want to keep everything in house. I do not know who the current editor of the programme is, and if it is going to go online where it can be found.
Clubs I have seen do online programmes have several different contributors and usually make it available forreading the day before the match.
I think it would be sensible to find out who buys the programme and what they want from it.

I see there is an online Chesterfield programme - I only found out because a Chesterfield fan mentioned it! Nobody else mentioned it. Unfortunately it uses that issu software which doesn't allow you to download it to see it better, and avoid the adverts. IMO it's not that great anyway. www.eastleighfc.com/match-programme-chesterfield-fc-h/

Heard at a game 3 weeks ago that our printers had put their costs up from £450 a game to £1200 a game (or thereabouts) which is quite a rise.
I assume we are looking for a new printer. If possible I would have thought it could be good to tie it in with a sponsorship deal.

Its really poor that the club can't offer at least a limted run of programmes. The online version is dreadful and frankly an insult to anyone who has paid to advertise in it.

A step 6 club I know very well has an online programme which has articles from the chairman, the manager, the director of football, the club captain and a long-term follower of the club, with th results, appearances and goalscorers. including yellow and red cards, a match report, a club history, directions for the next aw\ay match, a list of club officers, league results and a table. information about the opposition, advertisements and general information which in my view is more than the Eastleigh programme does even if the photography is good. However, as I said earlier in the thread my understanding was that the club wanted to keep it in house.

I live in Frome and am now a season ticket holder at Frome Town, level 8, same as Sholing and Totton. Frome Town moved to an online programme probably 3 yrs ago and a recent example is attached here:-https://www.weareba11.com/post/frome-town-v-wellington-afc-official-matchday-programme-4st-october-2022
Middle of last season they reintroduced a paper version for league games which has slightly different content, costs £2.00 with a paper of lower quality than Eastleigh's in recent seasons. FWIW, I always buy the paper version and rarely look at the online version.
