Desperate stuff Why did Panter take everything , he doesn't even have a long throw and certainly not a dangerous one like Tozer, and he's tall so let's take him out the mixer to put balls in, bewildering. Change it up a bit please.
First watch of the league season, I think we've got some good players, all the gear no idea springs to mind, no wing back play anymore, we really were spoilt under Strevs when even loaners like Seaman came in and added to our attack. There's certainly been an upturn in quality of football since Strevs left, don't think I've ever looked at my phone as much as tonight.
Missing a couple of players and suddenly the bench looks bare as expected, why do we have to loan out a striker to Bashley?

The Daggers are a good side and really ought to make it to the playoffs this season, having just missed out last season. I thought we matched them for an hour, and our two full backs had great battles with their opponents, honours even in those. All seemed a bit frantic so not many clear chances. They had spells of pressure and we did well to block several shots - but their goal was a case of one two many, and of course, it had to be McCallum, who looked dangerous all game. After that they had a couple of chances and hit the post and looked pretty comfortable. We were late bringing the subs on and didn't look like scoring - until the exciting end to the game as we scrambled in that equaliser. I would say that was a good point for us.
On callumefc's points - Panter had more long throws in the Wealdstone match than tonight. I don't think we are the force at set-pieces yet that we have been on the past. I'd prefer to see Panter take the free-kicks as frankly I think he's better than Hesketh at them.
Attendance was announced as 1776 - unusually, I thought there were a lot more there than that - I'd have guessed 2200, certainly more than on Sat. It looked quite full, in fact. With the green stand seemingly out of action for a while, it does beg the question as to how we're going to cope with big visiting clubs. Southend on a Bank Holiday Saturday might bring a few, for example.
Good to see us ahead of Wrexham (just) in the early league table!!!

The main problem tonight was we just did not look like scoring. Matched them for an hour but didn’t really create much. After the goal did we create a single chance apart from the scrambled goal (own goal?) I don’t think we did.
I’m mystified as to how we have started the season with just 2 strikers, though perhaps of more concern tonight was we didn’t make any chances to miss. Worrying, but I guess maybe we can take a positive that all that and we still got a point.
Much to be done if we are to have any success this season

Who would of thought that with our plethora of striking options goals would be so hard to come by! What happened to the attacking, entertaining football we were promised when the new boss came in?

Who would of thought that with our plethora of striking options goals would be so hard to come by! What happened to the attacking, entertaining football we were promised when the new boss came in? My thoughts exactly. The team looked toothless last night and frankly out of ideas in the second half. Too may passes were taken and balls into the box were aimless. Credit them for keepiing going but a point was lucky. I'd also say the subs were too late last night and not sure what they did to change the game? I am still not convinced by Bradbury. 4 points is a decent early start but on that performance the bottom half of the table is all we can expect.

Overall thoughts were we look a bit more punchier going forward than last season but as soon as we get near the opponents box the ideas run out. We look like a team that will not score many goals, distinct lack of efforts on goal last night and struggled to get any decent crosses in from wide positions. Anything in the air, Daggers defence cleared easily. Dagenham looked ok - nothing special, defended well and always looked more threatening in the final third. Get out of jail card for the draw as on the balance of play and threat Dagenham edged the game for me. Can't fathom why it took Bradbury so long to get the subs on after they'd opened the scoring it was obvious a change had to be made earlier. Definitely need a couple of players in if possible with one being a striker and someone creative in midfield the priorities. Looking like a lower half of the table finish on the evidence last night.

I can't really fault any of the players as the work rate was outstanding throughout the game. If they are being measured by the yards they cover, how many footraces they win and how many tackles and interceptions they make they are heroes.
Unfortunately as a team we lacked guile and fluency. When we did play one or two touch football it tended to be frantic rather than controlled - elements of the Keystone Cops at times. When we did use the width of the pitch with long passes out wide we looked at our most dangerous. It seemed to be beyond us though to capitalise on that and I wasn't sure if every player had a clear understanding of their role. When passing options were available I don't think the player in space was picked out often enough and there seems to be a lack of confidence and expediency in decision making. An interesting and objective point of criticism has been made about how Corey Panter is being used for long throws. There was one cameo which might illustrate this. We were one down with a few minutes to go and won a throw in on our right in the D&R half. We wasted time waiting for Corey to arrive from many yards away to take the throw and then when he did it went about 10 yards max to the nearest blue shirt. What's that about? We could have taken that throw 20 or 30 precious seconds earlier and not have a key player out of position.
D&R are highly mobile with a fair share of ability and they are set up to be difficult to break down. We did not look like making any impression in terms of goal attempts (until the never say die 11 men in the D&R half final minute goal). It seemed with their organisation and a dodgy ref our best chance to score would be through a penalty. This must have been clear from the sidelines but we seemed reluctant to carry the ball into their penalty area and always opted to carry on going through the motions of passing backwards and sideways without carrying any real threat. That is until Oscar Rutherford came on as a sub. He does look a prospect and in the few minutes he has accumulated in the games I have seen he has provided an immediate threat and has always been looking to take the ball into the Area. Let's see more of Oscar.
Hopefully as our new team gels and has more time training in less than tropical heat, the management team will be able to get some kind of system working. I just wondered, while waiting for the car park exit queue to start moving, whether we might have had a better night if we had had Danny Hollands dictating the match from the centre of midfield rather than watching on ruefully as a spectator in the crowd.
As I said I thought every player put a genuine shift in and quite a few were worthy of special mention but, I think, especially Vincent Harper. As for the managers I think Darryl McMahon probably edged it.

Just to say I wasn't having a pop at Panter for his play, just found it a bit odd and repetitive, and at times he didn't seem to be 'on it' or in a rush to do the set pieces, the one you mention was very funny. I thought his cross field long balls were superb and the back line for their age were brilliant and will only get better. I think we've got better players than last season, just can't seem to work Hesketh and Hill in the same line up
