This is possibly the best news so far for next season. Having Hesketh, McDonnell and Harper still under contract is also very important to 2022/23 prospects. It's a shame Camp is going back from his loan and I fear we will come to regret letting Miley go. His attritional style and his ability to shut key opponents out of a game will be hard to replace. The main issue though is that the club has to find a completely new "spine" - new centre backs, centre midfielders and strikers.
There is a wish on another thread to see more promotion from the EDS to the first team squad. That is a nice romantic notion if it works but realistically I don't think there is an EDS player I have seen who will hold down a regular place in our National League squad and, if there was, he might possibly be hoovered up sooner than later by the likes of Wigan.
Here's hoping we can tie up some nice new loan deals and RH's eye for a good centre back or two (and indeed midfielders and forwards as well) can work in our favour as it has in the past. I'm not sure if Danny Hollands is still staying on as a coach and, if so, whether he and Lee Bradbury can use their links with AFCB to good effect in getting loan signings from The Vitality Stadium.
Finally it will be interesting to see what Jason Bristow's role with the first team squad will be. His partnership with Ben Strevens was an important part of the success they had and, had we won that play off penalty shoot out at Salford a few years ago, the club would possibly be in a very different position now.
