Grimsby played only three starters from Tuesday, as they confirmed their place in the playoffs then, and it was very unlikely they could change their 6th place today. We didn't have our strongest team out either, but sometimes games when little is at stake can produce an open, entertaining match, like this one.
As usual, we looked toothless up front in the first half, so bringing on Whitehall (most likely to score) and Smart (most likely to run at a defence) was the obvious thing to do, and it paid dividends. Our second goal was a great move, for example. Unfortunately our defence looked dodgy at times and they took advantage. But a battling comeback after 0-2 at half time was a decent result. And we finished above Aldershot (wow).
Did we learn much? Not really. We know where our deficiencies are, we know we can battle well and sometimes surprise better teams. The new Development signings need time and are for the future, we badly need a good set of summer signings to support them. I won't go into which of the current players we should have to do that here, but I'm sure you will have your own opinions...

Well, didn't see that coming at half time. Apparently, Grimsby had made 8 changes to their team so they were far from full strength, and of course we had 4 Academy lads & Roscoe. Good decision by LB to make the substitutions at half time. Let's face it, the points weren't going to do anything for either side, except keep us above A'shot and overall the quality of football from both sides left something to be desired at times. However, it was a very entertaining second half and great to take a point after the first half. Fitting that TB scored in what is very likely his final game for Eastleigh. Impressed with Brendan Willson and Seung-Woo Yang. Hopefully lots more games from them next season.

Suprisingly entertaining afternoon in the end. Needed a lift after this dreadful season. Largest crowd of the season too. Thought Jake Hesketh had his best game in an Eastleigh shirt today. Excellent strike for his goal. Long summer ahead and a lot of work to do if this side is survive in the national league next year.

Entertaining game and a good fight back with four different goalscorers and Danny Whitehall scoring one and making one soon after coming on.
Having attended the meeting on Wedneasday I got the impression that the cklub got good money for the sales of Josh Hare and Tom Whelan, but knowing in January that they were unlikely to be going up or down this season have set aside some of this money for the next campaign.

Lowest finish in a league since name change? Social media and fans seem to be fairly happy with that. What a soft fanbase, glad I'm quitting football watching in 2 games time, I'm out. All the best

All the best I'm trusting that's tongue in cheek. If not, totally unrealistic to expect any club to improve every season, EVERY club has setbacks from time to time. No point being a football fan without optimism that things will get better.

I have seen Eastleigh finish in the bottom six of a 19 team Wessex League with average crowds well below 100, and so finishing in the bottom five of a 23 team National League (four divisions above the Wessex League) and still have an attendance of over 3000 for your last home game suggests that although having come so close to the playoffs last season it should not be all doom and gloom and we have a) Seen an entertaining final home match in which we scored four second half goals b) Have some promising EDS players and c) Had a very positive fans forum earlier in the week.

Hi guys, Grimsby fan in peace - first visit to your ground on Saturday and really enjoyed, its a local one for me as I live in Fareham so go to the majority of our games down here. Thinking of getting a season ticket for you guys next season as they are ridiculously cheap and even if I only go to half the games will be worthwhile +I never realised how close the concorde club is for a few beers b4. Is the long stand with seats the best view? As might go there

Yes, I think the best view is from the blue seated stand along the side of the pitch. The seats are slightly higher from about no 70 upwards, always find these more comfortable than the slightly lower section 1-70 that was added about 5 years ago. Also 70 onwards more central to the half way line. You pay £25 for the season to have a set seat reserved for you, otherwise you just jump in one that doesn't have reserved on it at no extra cost to the standard season ticket.

Nice i will try there then, how do they manage to do the season tickets so cheap i think it's about half the price of most other teams in the league. A shame Havant and Waterlooville didn't come up that would have been a tasty local game here!
