Solihull Moors have signed him for the final two games of the season, he's under contract with us for next season. Now one assumes SM have injuries to their first choice GKs so they're permitted to an emergency signing, fairnuff. But Lg 1 have finished their season bar the POffs, so why couldn't SM borrow a second string GK from a Lg1 club? OK, we have nothing to play for, but our final game is against playoff contenders Grimsby. What do the other playoff contenders have to say about us being understrength in a critical position, ostensibly giving Grimsby an advantage? This makes no sense to me in terms of being fair to all combatants for the playoffs. Anyway, Charlie Philpott should keep goal for us in the final two games, IMHO. He's the future, Flits is the past.

Same as Luton bringing in Ingram for Hull for games v Fulham Monday, poss Forest tomorrow and play offs. They've already used 7 GKs this season and have Isted as sub.

Mr B interview about how it came about includes the statement about it giving him two games to see how Ross Flitney performs in goal. Crazy thing about that is that we all know Flitney is still a decent keeper at this level with nothing to prove to the manager.

So a team in the playoff places borrows one of the best keepers in the league from another club who are not involved in the playoffs?
And that team not in the playoffs plays another team hoping to make the playoffs in their final game without their best goalkeeper, one of the most valuable players in their team, as a result?
Sounds really strange to me.

Solihull Moors are certain of a place in the playoffs and only need two points to be certain of a top four placing. They have an outside chance of making the top three, but that is not in their own hands.
Their last two matches are against playoff outsiders and their regular goalkeeper Ryan Boot who I thought played very well when Soihull Moors drew 0-0 at Eastleigh is injured. Actually if Solihull Moors lost either of their final two games as a result of not having an adequate replacement for Boot and the team they lose to get in the playoffs as a result then the team who miss out on the playoffs because of this could have something to say about it. However perhaps the greatest bone of contention will be if McDonnell features in the actual playoffs.
With Joe having played in virtually every league match in the last two seasons a game where there is nothing at stake for us may be the sort of match you might want to test what you have in reserve.

Very similar decision to those made by that clown Martin Allen when he let good players go from a winning team .... senseless . McDonnell will probably be brilliant and Solihull will offer more money than he’s getting for a better chance of winning something.

SM couldn't get a sub GK from any level higher so why not choose one of the best in this league. He's even cancelled his holiday to take this chance, good luck to him. Currently 3 up

I think that Solihull Moors not only had their first choice goalkeeper ruled out for the season, but also had the other two goalkeepers on their books injured. Ryan Boot the first choice goalkeeper has been their first choice for four years, and I do not think they see Joe as anything other than a temporary measure.
I think that you can look at it that if Eastleigh do reach the playoffs next season (and people might have different ideas of their chances of doing so) having a goalkeeper with experience of them might be beneficial.
Having said though I believe that loans of this nature should only be made in an emergency and that there should be clear rules as to what constitutes an emergency.
Solhull Moors are now certain of a place in the top four, although they cannot finish higher than third.
