Blimey, no responses in 15 hrs. I guess Strevs really was the issue after all.

The problem is a lack of investment which the Chairman has admitted in another thread. I admire the honesty but without this we are treading water in this league.

I think the team have been playing quite well at home, but away form has fallen off a cliff. So this was a good result against a team who have done well recently.
Seems like the budget is indeed what I thought, so I think we're doing OK in the circumstances. That's why I was a bit puzzled at Strevs' departure (maybe more behind it than we're told).
Happy to see us give the big teams a bloody nose sometimes, but without a lot more investment we cannot compete with the ex-EFL clubs. People need to accept that reality.
The next manager announcement will signal our ambition to some extent, who we get will of course depend on the resources available.

All correct, but I think people need to realise we are lucky to have a football club after this covid ********. Kenny and Tom and their team should be held up in the highest regards getting us through it. After 24 games last season we were 5th with 38(?) PTS , this season that would be 11th before yesterday, and we had 31pts. With a goalscorer we'd have seen off Boreham Wood and Chesterfield at Home , and a settled defence like last season.... The top 7 who have pulled away still really aren't that great (Wrexham 1m on 3 recent signings still losing away to Torquay like last season).

If so many people are disgruntled about the budget, is now the time to increase season ticket prices, to the average National League level..Maybe it still wouldn’t make us competitive with some of the really big spenders, but I think that we’ve had it lucky for a long time, with the lowest prices in the League. Possibly not the best time to address it at this time, with the cost of living crisis, but you really can’t expect the Club to be spending money that we don’t have. Next time you complain about the budget, remember how much you contribute to the Club.

Just watched Boreham Wood reach the fifth round of the FA Cup with an outstanding performance to win at Bournemouth.
This isn't a bad league we're holding our own in, you know.

Two players in the Boreham Wood team Frankie Raymond and Will Evans used to play for Eastleigh and some people rated neither player when they played for us.
After yesterday's draw Maidenhead are now the lowest scorers in the division away from, Whitehall's goal against his former club means he is our leading goalscorer in terms of goals scored per 90 minutes of play and it was good to see Hill on the score sheet.
I think that keeping the price of season tickets low has played a very important part in improving the home attendance figures, but it is probably worth mentioning that our prices are more similar to a Southern League club than a National League club and that it is hard to compete with clubs whose fans pay National League rates and have higher attendances.

I always rated Will Evans. A back three with either Reda or Ayo and Atkinson would be a dream defence.

I thought he was generally pretty solid, but made the odd mistake, for which I remember he got some stick from some people on the forum. Pleased he's done so well since leaving us.
Reda was more skilful, could do almost anything, but made more mistakes. Should have scored far more goals for us from corners.
I thought Atkinson was the best of the three - both solid, and had some skill. I remember his runs out of defence.
Agree that for this level, it would be a pretty good central defence. We've had other good central defenders in the NL, of course.

I think that Will was at the club for three seasons. In the first of these (the promotion season) he was injured for half of it and he played several games at right back where some people did not think he looked comfortable.
In the second season only one season scored more goals than us, while eleven conceded less. At the end of the third season Chris Todd released saying I believe that he felt he got drawn out of position too easily. However you could still argue that he gave some commanding performances during his time with the club.
Reda was one of the centre backs that came in the season after Will left and he looked good when he played, but the problem was very much the fact that he did not play that often. It was probably no coincidence that the season Reda played the most was a season we reached the playoffs.
