Hard done by to lose today. I don’t think it’s exactly a secret that we are a bit short of a goalscorer this season and losing Ben house, although he wasn’t prolific, hasn’t helped that.
Wonder if we will do any business in the next few days, early planning for next season?
Brilliant to get over 3000 today. We are in the bottom half of the the table with nothing to play for coming off 4 losses on the bounce and got over 3000. That is quite something.

We played the same way that we did in the win against Notts County - battled for the entire 90 mins and this time we were really unlucky to lose right at the end. But the winning goal was a fantastic strike.
Good to see the effort the players put in today against a team who have spent a lot of money and who will be up there at the end of the season. Can we now play like that on the road?
Guess what? We missed a true threat up front today, hard as everyone worked.

Looks as if the 1 million covid loan Chesterfield took from the Government last March may reap, at least short term, benefits.

On the subject of goals I think it is clear that the fact we have not scored in the last four league games and have now scored the fewest amount of away goals in the division is something that needs to be addressed.
However I have seen more than half of the home games including yesterday and in the games I have seen Eastleigh have scored an average of more than two goals per game. Interestingly enough in league games none of the teams currently in the top seven have averaged more than two goals per home game.
Of course on the striking front we have now lost Ben House and I think that Danny Whitehall was unavailable due to family reasons although I am led to believe he should be available for next Saturday. I know that some people do not rate Whitehall, but he has the second best ratio of goals scored per minutes on the pitch in league games for the club this season.

I quite like Whitehall - he looks very awkward to play against, and gets the odd goal. Useful player to come on when Barnett comes off after 60-70 minutes, as he usually does.
With House gone, though, we are a man down up front, so as well as goalscorers, we are looking light in numbers there.....
