Didn't go today but from what I have seen so far this season I'm of the opinion that Ty and House simply do not work together as a front pair. Love both players individually but a good team is more than the sum of its parts. But to a certain extent can be true across the team too - movement of the ball is too slow as we don't seem to be developing partnerships and understanding. Responsibility for that must rest primarily with the management team. I hope they sort it out.

Sounds like it was a close game today, but...as I mentioned on another thread, we've got a fairly good home record, but a pretty poor one on the road.
Can anyone who has been to a few away games explain that?
Is it the tactics? The way the team is set up? What's the difference?
At home we usually look to have a fairly solid defence and have players capable of making things happen going forward (although I agree with Spitfiresteve that sometimes we are too slow in the buildup - also not sure about the Barnett/House partnership, but hard to leave one of the other out). So why are we not as effective away?

We've got 2 good left sided wingers that draw 2 defenders to them every time they threaten, yet they cant even get in the starting 11 or squad. Instead its all compressed into the middle and as a result it always comes to nothing. We played well today but as usual drew a blank when it came to shots on goal. Play a tricky player or two and buy a decent striker.

I rarely see Eastleigh play away nowadays, but last season I formed the impression that last season the run of three games in which neither Barnett or House were available, all of which were lost and only one goal was scored was a not insignificant reason why the playoffs were missed.
This season we have conceded 10 goals at home and 11 away. However in 5 of the 7 away games we have been behind at the interval and the one time we have been ahead at half time we have gone on to win.
I have noted some teams in the past be successful away from home because they are able to keep the score at least level in the first half and push on from there in the second half. I personally was surprised to see all three of Pritchard, Hesketh and Whelan in the starting line-up.

I think the reality is we are probably a couple of players light of a playoff push. Would love to be proven wrong.
Impressive away following of 253 today, partcularly given last weeks free coaches and our indifferent away form

I told you ages ago we needed strikers, a different manager , and someone to motivate the players . They clearly need a motivational speaker because they have NOT got one now . Embarrassing.

I think that this match was seen as a Fans special away day which probably goes some way to explaining the good numbers of away fans.

I told you ages ago we needed strikers, a different manager , and someone to motivate the players . They clearly need a motivational speaker because they have NOT got one now . Embarrassing. The Woking and Altrincham home games, and of course the Folkestone game, saw a massive improvement in the second half, so someone is clearly able to motivate/reorganise the players there. That doesn't excuse those first half performances... As I've said before, we have a mid-table squad, others have spent shedloads of money to get promoted this season, and I think we're doing as well as expected, given that we can't compete with that. I don't think changing the manager would help anything. But clearly we are light in certain parts of the squad. I don't know what the finances are, how much we've tried to strengthen it. As an aside, Notts County broke the National League attendance record yesterday with 12843 spectators. They only charged £5 to get in, but still.... this is what we're up against. We play them here next Sat. There will be some good games and some bad games. I'm just puzzled about the big difference between home and away results.

Also only 3 points behind Stockport and 5 behind Wrexham.

What is perhaps interesting is we have gone on to win our last two home league matches in which we have gone 1-0 down, while in the six away matches we have gone 1-0 down we have only obtained one point.
Also our average of two goals per home game is only bettered by five teams in the division, but away from home we have just scored four goals.
However looking at the line-ups I would say that the teams we put out away from home seem just as attack minded as those at home.
