Folkestone fans must be waking up with a great pride about their town and club this morning. Great turnout well over the announced 1200, 3 packed sides, you're not fooling anyone 🤣 , they also don't have to go to Boreham Wood in the next round either. There's no reason why they cant become the biggest team in that area. As others said to me, get a few more drink and food areas available to sort congestion and the ground is ready made to go up the levels. Think their first player went down with cramp around 55mins and a fair few more did later on too. Won't go too into our performance but up until the 18 yard box was pretty good, from their it was pretty repetitive stuff, clear to see where our areas for improvement are. Managed to find a programme from my previous visit for the Ryman League game, 16 years on they are still competing at that level and their big game is against us whilst we've been lucky to have the journey up the leagues. I could almost take a loss last night, we've had our Bolton, Swindon, Brentford, Crewe days out. 9k in the bank plus a minimum of a losers fee in the next round happy days. Good turnout from the Eastleigh fans, the old boys filling a minibus, the slightly younger drinkers having a great day out and various by cars and trains with some having travelled knowing they'd have to leave at FT if it went to Extra time , one even had to leave at FT to start his midnight shift whilst my passenger was up in 3 hrs time after I dropped him off just before 1, amazing the lengths football supporters go too.

I don't usually spare much thought for our opposition but I must admit on Saturday after the final whistle I did feel sorry for the Folkestone fans. Once we had scored that incredibly late equaliser it was always likely that they had just missed a golden opportunity to get to the first round proper, something which they have only reached once before in their 85 year history.
Of course we only made it once before reaching the national league (in 2009), but have made it through 6 times in the last 8 years. Whilst we remain in this league we are very likely to continue to reach the first round more often than not.

I think it was 2014 that we reached the National League. With regards to Folkestone Invicta's F A Cup record it is worth mentioning that the club Folkestone were into their demise in 1990 very much the senior club in Folkestone and reached the 1st round proper of the F A Cup many times. Upon the demise of Folkestone, Folkestone Invicta who were at the time playing in nearby Hythe moved into their ground and it is only since then that they began their career in senior football, with 1994/95 being the first season they entered the F A Cup.

Invicta fan here paying a one-off visit. I'll get round to why I'm here shortly, but the above stuff is interesting and accurate. I'm old enough to have followed the old Folkestone Town club from the early sixties and, yes, we did used to make the 1st round proper now and then. We made the 3rd round in 65/66, lost to Crewe, and the 1st round the following season, lost to Swansea in a replay. But Invicta have only made the first round once, in 2005. We played at Chester and led until half-time before being reffed out of it... Anyway, why I came on here is to give you the Youtube link to our highlights of last night's game. And what a brilliant game it was. You'll be pleased with the result, we're just delighted with how well we played. Good luck at Boreham wood. www.youtube.com/watch?v=_XG6AqFX558That's all from me, forever - promise.

Perhaps I should have said 8 seasons (14/15-21/22) rather than 8 years. I've just had a look at Folkestone FCs history, looks a bit complex with 2 other clubs besides Invicta and 2 name changes. I note that wikipedia states "neither has any formal connection to Folkestone Invicta, who took over the Cheriton Road stadium after the demise of Folkestone F.C. in 1990." I imagine some people may dispute that.

Many of the fans & some of the players moved from the old Folkestone club to Invicta so you could sat the soul of the old club carried on. The demise of the old club was very sad. I've still got my "founded 1894" badge of the old club on my Invicta hat. If you want some history of the ground have a peek at my website: www.cheritonroad.co.uk Good luck in the next round. Oh and next time you play Dover I hope you win
