They did the double over us this season despite their lowly finish, so not to be underestimated. Won at Yeovil recently too so could be a close game. But one we ought to be able to win.
Would be nice for us to score at last too! We've played and lost to two good teams so far, so hopefully the season can 'kick-off' here.

For me it will be only the second match between Eastleigh and a team from Kings Lynn and the other one was at Kings Lynn in 2004. That season Kings Lynn won the Southern League Division 1 East and we finished fourth and were one of the teams that were promoted alongside them. They had good support and both the games against them that season were drawn.
However this club folded and they reformed and they reached the National League through four promotions in nine seasons.

They had good support and both the games against them that season were drawn. However this club folded and they reformed and they reached the National League through four promotions in nine seasons. I also saw the original Kings Lynn in the Southern League, a few years before you ;-) Entertaining game today. Strevs may be angry with the defending but when you start to sit on a 2-0 lead after 8 minutes, you're asking for trouble, especially since Kings Lynn were good coming forward. We say it out until half time but once the visitors scored at the start of the second half, we still let them come at us until after their equaliser (both goals were identical, apart from a deflection for the first one). We then took the lead again but let them get an equaliser, dubious as the free-kick may have been. I thought Hill was excellent, with Pritchard and Whelan not far behind. The latter's delivery of set-pieces is pretty good at the moment. We looked convincing coming forward, although we need the midfield to support the forward line more than most teams, and I'm sure the defence will get sorted out. With a few new players it takes time to gel. The ref tried hard to play advantage but otherwise was 'of National League standard'. Both teams suffered under this. Far too many yellow cards.

Entertaining game today but if we carry on conceding goals for fun we are going down. Yes the ref was poor but was poor for both sides. When Partington and Green left there were some on here saying they were past it. The back four misses these old heads in my view. Winnable games coming up but addressing the defensive frailties is crucial first.

Frustrating to drop 2 points today having (twice) got in position to win the game.
Just seemed confortable untill Kings Lynn scored to make it 2-1 and then seemed fairly inevitable they would equalise. Albeit I was 100 yards away but I wasn't convinced about their free kick, interesting to see it back. As will be our first goal, looked like quite a finish from Pierce Bird

I thought that two positives yesterday were Ryan Hill and Harry Pritchard. With Tyroine Barnett injured and Danny Whitehall maybe not match fit Hill demonstrated that he is very much a contender for a starting berth up front. Harry Pritchard was I believe bought for his goaklscoring potential and creativity from midfield and he scored one goal and provided the cross for another.
However after last season in which we won every match in which we held a two goal lead it was disappointing that we could not do so today and I think that when they scored their first they were always likely to score again and I do not think we looked comfortably defensively.
I do agree about the comments about Joe Partington and Michael Green. I think Green would have struggled to he chosen ahead of Joe Tomlinson, but from what I saw yesterday I would not certainly rate Michael Kelly above. Also Joe Partington can play centre back and I get the impression that he would be at least as effective alongside Andrew Boyce as we have had so far this season. Also Joe P and Michael G ae experienced players who are good team men and sometimes when things do not go entirely according to plan it is in my view helpful to have players who can boost the team spirit.
Also it was nice to speak to a few Kings Lynn fans, who were very pleasant, when I am not sure that those who witnessed the Eastleigh v Kings Lynn matches 18 seasons ago would have formed similar opinions about the Kings Lynn fans.
Still with both Eastleigh and Kings Lynn having reached this level by achieving four promotions in the 21st century I am of the opinion that both clubs have a lot to be thankful for.

I remember that game. IIRC it was our first game in the Dr Martens league having been promoted from the wessex league. A 0-0 draw was played out in front of a bumper crowd of nearly 300, I remember the game and feeling that we had "arrived" in the bigtime.
Kings Lynn bought a small but noisy following who sung songs about a certain farmer from Norfolk, "theres only one Tony Martin" and of even more dubious taste - "he's got the best shot in England".

The home match against Kings Lynn was one of the few I missed that season, but I have just read a report of this game and the attendance was 296.
However I did go to the match at Kings Lynn, staying overnight in Peterborough the night before, while a group of supporters travelled by minibus on the day.
