NEWS | 2020/21 RELEASED AND RETAINED LIST
Following the conclusion of the 2021-22 Vanarama National League season, Manager Ben Strevens has confirmed his released and retained list.
The following players remain in contract, have signed new deals, or have triggered appearance-based extension clauses:
Joe McDonnell, Ross Flitney
Joe Tomlinson
Cav Miley, Jack Payne, Sam Smart, Ryan Hill, Tom Blair
Dan Smith
The following players have been released:
Callum Baughan, Ben Scorey
Abdulai Baggie, Tom Bearwish
Lewis Beale
The rest of the first-team squad are continuing their contract talks with the club and manager, Ben Strevens. We will update supporters in due course on how these talks progress.
Eastleigh Football Club would like to place on record our thanks to all the players, and wish those leaving the club the very best for their futures.
On the departing players, Ben Strevens said: “I would like to thank all the lads that are leaving the club for their efforts during their time here. I’d like to thank Bags [Abdulai Baggie] as one of the senior players at the club and wish him the best in the next stage of his career.
It is, of course, hard to say goodbye to Tom, Callum, Ben, and Lewis as well, especially as they have risen through our Academy together. However, they are all at a stage where they deserve to be playing regular, first-team football. I wish them all the best and will be keeping an eye on their development as well.

Good to see McDonnell and Tomlinson under contract, I hadn't realised they were.

It will be interesting to see how many of Partington, Green, Bird, Wynter, Boyce, Hollands, House, Barnett and Marriott eventually sign on.

Now Chesterfield are staying down here. Boycey being a local lad and Birdy from up that way. I'm thinking, don't do it lads. Stick with the Spitfires. Stay with a club making history. Going somewhere new. Not join a team at their lowest ebb, trying to reclaim old glory. Stay and get us in the league. Then you will be legends for the rest of your lifes.

Do you really want those players here next season? At least half of them are too OLD, too SLOW. Fact, with them and a couple of others in the side they have FAILED when push comes to shove, MANAGER included, he doesn’t have the nous to change tactics or the sense to tell players to do what they’re paid to do rather than wander aimlessly around the pitch. Embarrassing!

I'd keep Bird, Boyce and Wynter; maybe Hollands, but the rest I'd let go. They have become too old and slow. We have the basis for a squad: let Eastleigh build a stronger squad around what they have.
I guess, all have been offered a contract, but on less money. We have not been promoted with them so perhaps it is time to ring in the changes.
