Well defended and 3 points on the board. A good professional ground out result. Well done to Eastleigh, as it stands up to 7th.

A great 3 points from a tricky match. We looked the business in the opening minutes when we seemed to have some freedom to move the ball around but Yeovil managed to start to get their foot in after they got away with a blatant foul on Sam Smart on the edge of their area without a caution. We were always looking to play our way through their midfield, but from loose balls and challenges we were coming second. They were sniffing out almost every second ball before we even thought about it. Happily they couldn't turn that positive advantage into goals. They lacked fluency in possession going forward and tended to rely on lumping aerial balls at their attacking players. Their player Worthington though seemed to be the handiest of their bunch. Loads of praise due to all our players especially House and Barnett for selfless tracking back with limited service coming their way up front, and also Hollands, Bird, Boyce, McDonnell, Smart, Tomlinson and others. We should take maximum confidence from that and use the upcoming enforced winter break to prepare to crack the play off places in the rest of the season - if it happens. Thanks Tom for the feedback on the stream and the much improved experience this time. Might still need a tweak or two as had to reboot a couple of times.

He called the pitch unbefitting of a professional club, that was all. Otherwise he seemed to say that Yeovil were the better team by far in the first half and should have had a penalty. He said his team were rubbish in the second half and we made it a scrappy game in which they were never going to equalise. That sounds pretty 'professional' to me. Didn't like the fact that his team were forced to change in the bar and Eastleigh and the ref changed in the stand? I'm sure his club would have let us use the stand if it had been at the Huish ;-) Anyway, if his team had been good enough, they'd have overcome the conditions, the opposition, the ref, etc, and won. He knows that too.
When he asked the ref about the pen at half time he felt he was treated very badly and forced to watch the match from the bar rather from the stand, which is more usual. What did others think about the ref? We've discussed before how the standard is poor at times, perhaps we got one of those for this match?

Personally I couldn't give a s##t what he says. He can make all the excuses he wants. Perhaps that's Yeovil's and a lot of ex league clubs problems when they come down to this league. They expect football league standard pitch's. Well tough tittys. We won, roll on Hartlepool, Tuesday. There league position would seem to indicate, that they have finally got a team to go up. Not a team that looks good on paper.

Does anyone know what’s wrong with the pitch this season? It’s been a lot better in the last few years since it was redone by Stewart Donald and we got over the initial teething problems. I can’t quite understand why as we have not had unusual weather and the pitch has had less games played on it than usual

Look at all the building going on near by. The water table has risen. The car park water goes straight towards the pitch down the slope. Under the pitch is a big load of clay. The drainage is much better than it was before Dan took over. The Mackoy stands roof being metal, not transparent. Means no sun in the penalty box.
The work Dan and the chaps do to get games on is outstanding.
Yes there have been less games, Trouble is they are so close together. So gives the pitch no time to recover.

I think that another thing worth noting is if you play matches in wet conditions as we did for the abandoned Hartlepool fixture and the Kings Lynn match and perhaps others the pitch cuts up and takes time to recover.

And the team have been training on it, but I notice they we're down Stonham Monday. I guess this could be finance related, which I can understand. Another 3 points tonight and I'll be happy regardless .👍

Agreed, the standard of many referees has not been to the expected level and that will be evident again tonight. I thought the referee had a very good game and picked up on Yeovil's constant cheating tactics for the long ball. He actually gave the Yeovil manager a chance to back-off when they were coming off at half-time, though the manager did not heed his warning and was red-carded. Personally I was very proud of our team in that we did not sink to Yeovil's level and I hope we continue to play in that manner.
