Can't see anything more than a dreary draw.

Watching this, it reminds me of Wimbledon in the late eighties. Trouble is we don’t have a John Fashanu to get onto these long balls. Still, I’d take the 1-0.

Good performance all round. I thought Payne and Hollands held the midfield together. A quick mention for Bird who played most of the preseason friendlys and I thought was a solid player, I think he will keep learning and prove to be a valuable asset .

An excellent response to the calls on here for the manager to be sacked. The club is lucky to have the Strevens and Bristow management team, both excellent appointments by the recently derided senior hierarchy and better than any number of mercenary has-beens (I borrow that expression from a sports journalist with connections to our club). Re the reference by one poster to our recent scoring drought, they do happen especially in exceptional circumstances. A fairer assessment can be made by looking at the whole season so far. Including last night, we've scored 24 goals in 16 league matches, only 4 fewer than second placed Sutton and the same number as Altrincham who occupy fourth place. As for the current league position, it's true that we sit 15th in the table but we are only 4 points behind Halifax Town in 6th place, and with three games in hand. As for last night's match, on a pitch not designed for intricate passing football the tactics were spot on. Long balls were utilised to clear the mud but in fairness there were also many clever wing to wing passes and movements which had the desired effect of pulling D&R all over the place. Top marks all round I'd say. Just a note though for the match programme editor. The "Manager's Notes" and the "Captain's Notes" seemed to be remarkably similar, with some identical paragraphs. Perhaps they were looking over each other's shoulders. Shouldn't complain mind as the programme is FOC. Hope everyone is keeping well, whether they agree or disagree with this post. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone back at the Silverlake when that becomes possible.

Great performance on Tuesday and much better to watch, we actually created quite a few chances as well as scoring the goals. Not sure whether we played a new formation which worked or Dagenham were god awful. Bit of both maybe. Mccallum looked very subdued and body language was sulky. Hopefully that can give the confidence to push on

I do not think I have seen enough games to have made any judgement on how the team had been playing in the recent run of results. I do know though that there are some players who start off their career with a club like an express train and then fade, while others have good seasons in which there are blips from time to time.
It does seem though that whenever the number of defeats begins to exceed the number of victories at any point in the season the position of the manager will be questioned. I believe that since 2002 we have had 10 managers, 6 of whom lasted less than a year in the role, while the four other managers who are Paul Doswell, Richard Hill, Ian Baird and Strevens have all either got the team promoted or into the playoffs. I think it is easy to suggest a manager who might do the job better, but if recruited would be unlikely to last a year in the post.
I think that you could apply similar arguments with player recruitment. Several players have been recruited because we like what we see when they play against us and when they join us it soon becomes apparent that it is not going to workout for a number of reasons. At least when we recruited Strevens as a player he had a track record of playing over 100 games for two London clubs and also did so for Eastleigh and played an important part in getting the team promoted to this level and reaching the playoffs the following season.

I'd love to know the real reason why Ronnie Moore left after his brief spell. I liked watching the football under him.

I think I read an article in the printed version of the non-league paper at least a year after his departure where Ronnie said he had a disagreement with Stewart Donald so I guess that was a significant factor, but when I tried to search for the article online I could not find it.
