We’re on a slippery slope in the league. What do we need to do to get out of this rut? Is Strevens afforded more time because he’s cheaper and inexperienced compared to say Martin Allen?

We'll be OK. Had other periods like this in the past. Strevs, Jason & the players will sort out. It would be madness to bring anyone else in at this stage. I give you AFC Fylde.

Is it madness though? Tuesdays game is absolutely huge. If we lose this one we really are in free fall. Five straight defeats in any league is unacceptable. I am more worried about the boards ability than Strevens though. He was always a cheap option rather than a choice tied to a strategic plan for the future (other than to run things on the cheap). Lose and it will be a crisis and I fear the board will be out of their depth.

I don't think things are that bad yet. If we are in the bottom 4 and lose to Dover...We have a habit of losing managers after defeat to Dover.

I believe that when Ben Strevens was appointed he was the sixth change of manager in just over three years and none of the other five changes led to the new manager reaching the playoffs and I think it is fair to say that when any board makes managerial changes during the season they do not necessarily see an improvement in fortunes.
Even a run of five losses is not in itself a reason for a managerial change. Southampton had a run of seven Premier League matches in which they obtained only one point including a 9-0 home loss. They stuck with the manager and have now moved from the relegation zone to the top half of the table.
The last game I saw was Chesterfield and I definitely thought there were positive aspects from that game with the Chesterfield goalkeeper having to make some good saves to prevent us scoring. What I believe cost us that game was the marking from set pieces.
It is also noticeable that in the last 14 games only once have gone 1-0 up. Even in the victories against Harrogate and Bromley we had to come from behind to take the three points and all of the draws in that spell have come from losing positions.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Mine is STFU. We are struggling at the moment, I agree. loose a few games and people start pissing themselves. FFS where's ya back bones, get behind the team. Even them ****ing idiots down the road didn't panic after losing 9-0. look at them now.

Tad harsh on calling THEM ****ING IDIOTS down the road don’t you think?? Lots of people support both so not really a very welcoming turn of phrase if you want to attract more to the club even if it was a game here a game there such as myself. Links between the two clubs are very strong , you maybe speaking in jest , then again you could be one of those FANS that detests everything Southampton and lives in an Eastleigh bubble wanting to play in front of a hundred fans and three dogs. Think on, you are lucky that genuine people that love a bit of football come along and spend money at EFC and wouldn’t ordinarily read thus forum , if they did they might think twice about coming tonight to support the team in a Hampshire Derby.

I don't think Shirley was referring to supporters when he said THEM ****ING IDIOTS, but the team and management cos that's what this thread is about, team and management situation and a need for change. I'm with Shirley on this, some are forgetting we've only lost three at home this season and the loss to Chesterfield was a fluke. If we played them 10 times we'd have won the other 9, games like this happen from time to time. Fans are right to be a tad worried, but its certainly not panic time. Poor as we were against Maidenhead on Saturday, we do actually have a good group of players and its probably a confidence thing at the moment, a win can get a run going, particularly with 4 of the next 6 at home and a visit to bottom of the table Chorley. In Ben we trust.....COYS.

Where did I mention fans? Love the way people take offence to everything these day. Without knowing what they are moaning about. Me hate everything about Southampton? Well its got lots of roads out of it.A few decent pubs and a cracking music scene. I'm lucky genuine people come to the football. Tiz not me who's lucky. Its the club I would have thought.
If they thought twice, wouldn't be because of me. It would be because they use their own judgement, Don't you think?
Anyway have a nice day FOS,

Perhaps it is worth noting that during the course of the season two threads have been started on this forum questioning whether we had the right manager in place. However at no stage in the season has the cumulative number of league defeats exceeded the cumulative number of league victories by more than two, and for the period 5th October to 18th January the former did not exceed the latter at all.
I also think that nearly every match in which we score first we go on to win, whereas on the other side of the coin quite a lot of points have been picked up after falling behind.
