I think that when we went to Dover in the National League the away following was about 25. Minibuses have been used in the past, but often someone has to drive these and they have often have had to spend a long time cleaning up afterwards as well as drive. They were often less comfortable and had no toilet on board.
About three years ago coaches were not run if they proved uneconomical.

Bottom line has to be that Stewart paid for people to travel round the country and sold them the story that we were going on an adventure that would mean promotion and league football. It's a pretty easy sell when backed up with large amounts of money. Unfortunately, the story today is that we want you to come with us but you'll have to pay the going rate and the aim is that we are going to try and stay in this league if we can! Not such an easy sell, given that the attraction of fairly priced entertainment pulled in a lot of disillusioned Premier League fans who couldn't/wouldn't pay £40 a pop to watch that level of football but don't really have any loyalty to Eastleigh. The truth of the matter is standing at The Silverlake cheering your team on in the cold/rain does not compare to the package offered by Sky & BT who are selling the same dream Stewart did without having to leave your lounge. We got the kids in because it was so cheap for them and something different but you have to work bloody hard to keep a young audience focused and it was always going to depend on success on the pitch for that audience. Still onwards and upwards fair play to TSSC who are working hard for the fans and for those working hard please ignore the drivel spouted by some who are so heavily weighed down by the chips on their shoulder that they have to make things up to get attention. You think I make things up then do you? Such drivel you spout, so I made it up did I that the club decides to rip fans off by making them pay £5, then reduced to £3 to enter their own club bar? I made it up that TSSC cancelled the coach to Dover through lack of support did I?
No what you're really saying is 'Don't criticize my football club' because if you do, it's total drivel. You think everything is perfect in all things EFC, that we should not complain if we disagree with something. Am I right to think that people complained about the £5 entry to Sherwoods, the club took notice and dropped it to £3? The club clearly did not think it was drivel then did they. The £3 is still wrong in my book, its being tight fisted to loyal supporters. I don't buy the notion that because its very nice in the Sherwoods bar, and you can drink out of a glass pint, it is worth paying £3 because its not, that's a cop out excuse and you all know it. The club is losing revenue because of it, so that has to be bad business sense. Beer has to be sold before it goes off, if you don't get enough people going in to buy it, you end up out of pocket that way too. But if you're happy to have things badly run, well everything in your rose tinted glasses must be fine, all is well in your perfect little world.
Oh yes, one final thing, its drivel isn't it....don't bother to tell me.

The main reason that Minibuses stopped being used was the introduction of stricter controls a few years back on who could legally drive them.
As those of us who went to the Fans Forum heard from the new chairman, 2018/19 is our "wake-up season"in terms of finance. Like it or not the club has to live within its means and cheap away travel is likely to be one of the casualties.

Spirit you criticise away have no problem with that. Equally I will challenge and despite you being a tough old timer you do seem to have a problem if someone disagrees with you...
It was the job interview questions you made up the other day I was referring to.

I can assure you those job questions interview are not made up. I only wish they were, questions that have nothing to do with the job. It is how the PC brigade has interfered in everyday walks of life on personal opinion, that private views most be choked to preserve the greater good of human nature. I can’t name the company I signed a confidentiality agreement prior to the questions that I do not put on social outlets their policy of interview. That is clearly another hallmark of the March of the PC brigade....sad how they cover all bases in legal terms to deny free speech.

Good win today, wasn't there so not sure how we played be interested in hearing the thoughts of someone who was there? Squad seems very thin to me. We've been quite lucky with injuries so far touch wood but surely the inevitable reda injury is coming. Youth players on the bench, thing is there's no way Hess is going to play them on these really tight games.

A great 3 points from a ground where we rarely pick up points. Came out fighting in the first half with some of the best passing football I’ve seen from our players with notable performances from Joey Jones, Yeates, Hare and Williamson.
2nd half Dover came out full of fighting spirit and we went into panic mode somewhat. The ball was all in our end and we defended deep and gave their players too much space. The passing game ended and balls were hoofed up the pitch in the hope of reaching a striker. Beano probably had our best chance to score in the second half but the ball went just wide.
Just to mention Dover’s coach prices. Their next away game to Leyton Orient is costing £33 and £55 for Fylde. They give a heavily subsidised price for supporters club members (£18 and £30 respectively). Don’t think we can really say we’ve ‘priced ourselves out of our means’ looking at our prices.

Great win today. Delighted. And because this post is the best I have ever read on this forum. I am copying...and pasting. Spot on.

Great result but one concern is our disciplinary record. It's the worst in the League with 14 yellows and 1 red. Also our leading goalscorer Paul McCallum has 3 yellow cards in just 6 matches.

First on all what an excellent result.Noticed in match report that Stack put in a good goalkeeping performance. Good to see, however I note that those that are quick to slag him of are strangely quiet when he plays well. Travel well a thank you to those who sort it out and given several circumstances sadly you sometimes have to cancel. For those that have an opinion why not stand up and sort the travel yourself as I am sure given the vast experience you must have you can get us there and back for a fiver with waiter service. If you can't try something really new and be positive.

If you can't try something really new and be positive. You referring to me Paul? Firstly I would never praise Stack no matter how good a performance he produced, he committed the cardinal sin of abusing one of our fans at Dagenham at half time after a shocking few minutes conceding three goals. When he leaves EFC it will be a good day. He'll have his bad days, he's too old and way past his best as it is.
As for travel, I'm not particularly bothered, trains might be more expensive but at least what you do the entire day is your choice. Leaving Eastleigh early morning, arriving and visiting the town/city we're playing at, watch the game, and you can drink if you want during travel. None of that rubbish on the coach, can't drink, people creating a bit of noise and the older supporters moaning about it, straight to the ground, straight home afterwards, nah that's not a day out.

If you are not bothered about the travel why mention it in first place unless it's just to stir things up. As for Stack there may have been many reasons why he was 'out of order that day' I did not see it so can't make an opinion. But again another awe inspiring positive post from yourself. I am looking forward to watching the Ebbsfleet game of the back of the Dover game, and again having a laugh a chat and shouting in frustration. But I intend to enjoy the game there will be negatives but I will look for the positives.
