We bossed that half, Josh Hare looked good unlucky not to have scored.

An object lesson in how to throw 3 points away. For 80 minutes by a margin the better team, should have been 2 or 3 up. Then out of the blue Solihull score and we collapsed, and they bossed the last 13/14 minutes and held on comfortably. I can barely believe what I have just seen. Solihull will be a mid table side, on the basis of that first 80 minutes we are challengers for top 7, on the basis of the last few minutes we have a long, long season ahead.
Really really upset. Totally gutted. Should of stuck with the cricket - I enjoyed that.

Disappointing start especially since we were on top for most of the game. Lessons not learnt from the Gillingham friendly: - take your chances (OK, the SM keeper had a good game, bur we should have scored at least a couple on the first half) - when you have scored or conceded a goal, keep your concentration (the ball through to Yussuf for their equaliser was deflected, though)
- watch out for the ball through the middle, especially when Stack is usually off his line (unlike the Gills game, he wasn't far forward enough to concede the penalty) Having said that, we played OK most of the time - more long ball today then in pre-season, but most of our threat appears to come from the flanks.
Players I noticed this time doing well were Hare and Gobern. Boyce won a lot of headers in the middle of the back three. Solihull worked hard, won a lot of 50-50s in midfield, had a good keeper, and came into the game more in the second half. But we should have got at least a draw from that game. It was important to get something out of it, and we need to improve before some hard away games next week. Interesting to see Beano come on as sub - did he play much pre-season?

If Stack had come for the ball that Boyce headed away in the build up to the first goal we might have kept our lead.

Solihull came for a draw and sat back and had two forced early substitutions, but despite that we still didn’t overpower them and dominate and take our chances! Our pen was a bonus but we through it away, same as last yr , no leadership on the pitch not dynamic enough and no speed! Miley looked like he could change all of that given more time, Hare looked solid and hopefully will get better as the players get used to each other. Hess was screaming for quicker play, why don’t they listen?
I really liked their midfielder, can’t remember his name number, possibly 15? The solid lad that set up one of their goals with some nice skills and a great pass sending their forward through the middle on goal.

Today's crowd 1354. Just 4 lower (AFC Fylde, Borehamwood, Braintree (621) and Maidenhead but 3 more in the 1300s (Harrogate Town, Barrow and Dover) all just a tad higher than us. Maidstone v Hartlepool top gate at only 2599, suggesting strongly that the season is starting too early.

When that game kicked off and I was stood behind the goal in what felt like at least 30C, I did think what the hell am I doing here? Still I know the answer to that - its what I do!

Came away dejected as ever but having said that I've defintely seen us play worse. We actually created quite a lot today and put in a good amount of crosses. Thought their goalkeeper was very decent and JD we swapped keepers probably would've won that.
Don't think they really tested our defence until the last 10 mins so to concede as soon as we got our first real test was annoying. Hard to say where this season will go this early but guessing playoffs probably will be too much to ask for. From what Hess said at the forums maybe we just need to concentrate on staying up and rebuilding next season. Although seems we say that every year!

What we need to concentrate on right now is getting something from Sutton, and that will be no easy ask. Lose at Sutton and already we will be looking at a crunch game next Saturday. Crazy how football is these days, but a couple of defeats and the world and his dog have an opinion.

If Stack had come for the ball that Boyce headed away in the build up to the first goal we might have kept our lead. I knew it wouldn't take long, Stack is a serious liability to this team. He doesn't care, never has from day one, conceding five in his first 45 minutes, which most reckon he could have stopped three. Conceded three dreadful goals in five minutes at Dagenham as well. Pay him off, get him out before he relegates this club.

We bossed that half, Josh Hare looked good unlucky not to have scored. Made the NLP's team of the day - "Worked tirelessly. Solid and good going forward."

Non League Paper today, inside of back page, entire page by Stack and not once does he mention Eastleigh, says it all doesn’t it, there is no feelings for the club, just take the money, he’s not that bothered, why should he be? He knows he’s gone next May or sooner.
