Gillingham have confirmed they will be bringing a first team squad so will be a good test of our standard. I am going for a 1 v 1 draw which would be a great result.

www.eastleighfc.com/matchday-eastleigh-v-gillingham-information/The Spitfires take on League 1 side Gillingham tonight at The Silverlake. It will be the last time to see Andy Hessenthaler’s squad at home before the season commences on August 4th. Turnstiles 1 & 2 will open at 5:45pm and will allow access to the Sherwoods bar inside the ground. The Hangar bar outside the ground will be open (Please be aware only bottled beer is available this evening in this bar) The club is also trialing the new ticket system tonight. Fans no longer need to queue at the ticket office and can buy tickets only here – www.eastleighfc.com/tickets/ – Once purchased simply present your QR code at the turnstile on your smart phone or your print-at-home tickets. Turnstile operators will then validate your ticket using high speed scanners. Should fans still wish to buy tickets on the night at the ticket office, they can do. Tickets are priced at £7 for adults, £5 concession and Under 7’s are free. Tickets for disabled supporters are priced at the standard rate with carers admitted free of charge. •All seating for this fixture is unreserved and will be available on a first come first served basis on the day of the game. •There will no segregation in place for the game, with only the North and West stands open. •The club will be running no hospitality for this fixture. •Match day car parking will be available on-site free of charge and is on a first come first served basis.

"Turnstile operators will then validate your ticket using high speed scanners" Good idea to have this trial run tonight.
Picked up our season tickets and parking permit at lunchtime - all looks a lot more professional than in the past. Took the opportunity to check out the view from our seats in the main stand. The place looks better than ever.
Also took the chance to look at the new developments up the road (North Stoneham Park). The huge blocks nearest the main road (flats, I assume) look more like barracks blocks from the Red Army era. Ugly doesn't do them justice. From £180K for a 1 bedroom and £220K to £240K for a 2 bedroom flat, sorry, "apartment".

Sounds a bargain taylov :0)
Thought we held our own for the first half and could/should easily have been at the break. Two good chances to make it 1-1. After we went 2-0 Gillinghams quality shone through and they ran out comfortable winners.
Of course thats not really important, hopefully it was a good run out for all and a step up on our pre-season program thus far.
Bought my ticket in cash at the ticket office and it was scanned through the turnstile no problems.
Should think we'll beat Winchester comfortably, fingers crossed for the big one against Solihull!

How come no season tickets?

How come no season tickets? It was on both the club website and the forum that season tickets could not be collected last night. Just a matter of practicality with people buying their tickets on the night for the Gills game.

Standard Rate??? Does that mean disabled supporters have lost the concession rate? When SD came to the club I personally took up the matter with him, explaining I could obtain concession rate at EVERY away ground watching Eastleigh, but couldn't in my home ground. I can quote his very words, "We'll have to do something about that then Keith, we can't stick out like a sore thumb on that issue". It was done within a week.
Just so people understand, I am aged over 60 now, so personally I get concession rate anyway, but we should give our disabled supporters this concession surely.

Last night's game? Depends on how you want to look at it.
You could say that we more than matched a League One side for an hour, should have been ahead, but a really good second goal for them gave them a boost, they raised their game, and in the end were worthy winners, even if the score flattered them. Or you could say that we didn't make our dominance count before the break, missed chances we should have taken, and collapsed in a heap when they got their second. Three of the four goals conceded were poor from our point of view.
We got in a number of good crosses during the match which we need to take more advantage of. Generally our passing was pretty good. Individually I noticed Wynter and Hare (first half) again having good games. Greener seemed to be getting some criticism for his defensive positioning. Gobern/Hollands again good in the middle at times. Not sure any of the subs made much of an impact, and in fact we conceded three goals after they came on. Stack was (IMO) to blame for two of the goals last night, but we need another keeper anyway, either for cover or to replace him.
Still quite promising, still a lot of things to work on.

Pre-season friendlies are all about fitness and results are not important. However, my gut feeling is there is more to work on than any great promise at the moment. We need a new goalkeeper but that was clearly obvious at the end of last season.

Sorry to say but in this weather the last thing on my mind is football. I will be at the Solihull game, come what may. I can only feel sorry for anyone having to run around for 90 minutes in the heat we have been having recently. Whilst its obviously not great losing 4-0 last night IMO friendly results good bad or otherwise have absolutely no bearing on the season ahead. In fact I would go as far as to say, I am not entirely convinced that friendlies play any relevant part of pre season preparation. We obviously need to train, work on our shape, and get fit, but are friendlies useful for any of that? I am far from convinced.
