Yes I did. We have a fit, strong, well organised team, and I don't think we've produced our best yet. I am confident we can beat Croatia, though Belgium or France might prove a bridge too far. Hopefully not. If we can really be on our game, maybe we will take the trophy and what a boost to football that would be.

The style Southgate is bringing to the team has been building for a while and I thought Euro 2020 might be good for us with mainly home advantage if we qualified. But I didn’t see this happening and Southgate deserves great credit. They’ve made me sit up and notice since I turned my back on England in South Africa 2010. Can they win it? Yes they can and it would be fantastic for the game in this country....ENGLAND World Champions 2018 is the stuff of dreams...It’s coming home, It’s coming home, football’s coming home🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴👍👍👍👍😁😁😁

I do hope that we reach the Final. In 1966 I worked all day on Saturdays and missed the match against Germany.

Sadly, the former. I was working for a well-known supermarket. We were warned not to even think of not turning up to work that Saturday. It would be instant dismissal. No appeals. No workers protection legislation in those days.
I had to wait until the cinema was showing the highlights of the game in full colour - which wasn't available until several MONTHS later. BTW Colour TV didn't start in the UK until 1967 (BBC2) and November 1969 on BBC 1 and ITV.

I saw that colour film Tony, Welwyn Garden City Picture House!!!!! I didn't see the final either, I got knocked down by a mini who was driving like a madman that day, over the bonnet I went, luckily after checks all I had was a cut ankle and bruises.
Interesting fact about that final....England had 40 attempts at goal, Germany 37....don't think that will ever be beaten.

Well I saw it, in fact I saw all the games Uruguay 0-0, Mexico 2-0, France 2-0, Argentina 1-0, Portugal 2-1 and of course the final. Interestingly after the Uruguay game, the press hammered England and said we had no chance.
We can certainly win this year. I have always had hope, but not much else, but at last I can see another England team lift the world cup. Probably my last chance so COME ON ENGLAND!

Saw the Argentina game but the game that I will never forget was the North Korea v Portugal Quarter/Final
The Koreans sprinted into a 3-0 lead after 24 minutes against a side led by Eusebio, but couldn't hold on, losing 3-5 in the end.

Well that was pretty gutting wasn't it? Just didn't have enough left in the tank in the end.
Overall we did well and I don't think anyone thought we would make the semis, but hard not to feel a missed opportunity at what was probably our best chance to make a world cup final for 52 years.

They came out second half and stopped playing, they let them come on to them, they got stronger and stronger, their goal was coming and so it did. From then on there was only going to be one winner and it wasn't us. We didn't see the real Harry Kane at this tournament, 2 penalties, 2 headers, a tap in and a deflected goal off his boot, is not the Kane we all know, where was his shooting boots? He played too deep in all the games, as for Sterling, how can a man who has never scored a goal for Southgate continue to start? Blimey he never even achieved an assist, let alone a goal.
Overall it was a wonderful run to the semis, but for me a missed opportunity to win the damn thing. Why did they sit off them in the second half eh? It killed us, Gary Neville made the comment we were waiting for them to tire because of the extra time games, instead of tiring they got stronger because they got a foot back into the game and they took it. The wrong decision was made in the dressing room at half time, we stopped playing and tried to defend what we had. It never fails to amaze me that the best form of defence is to keep the ball in the oppositions half...and that's exactly what they did to us from the second half, playing in our half we never got a chance of finding that second goal.
I am bad loser always have been, but that was ours to win and we blew it.

England did as well as they could, the first decent test has shown they simply were not good enough to go all the way. They have not beaten anyone of note on route to the semi final, but have despatched up until last night with what was put in front of them. England needed a second goal in the first half and Kane and Lingard spurned great chances trying to use their favoured foot. After half time Modric and Rakatic grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck and Croatia ran out deserved winners. England now need to be careful in dealing with a media that will now have expectation for Euro 2020 set a lot higher, also expect Germany, Italy and Holland to be back in the mix.
