So it all begins tomorrow. Am sure the club would welcome good support for the first game of the new era.
Crowd of 600 and 1-1.

Well, that was a surprisingly decent game considering both teams have had less than a week of training.
We deserved to win, I think, and was particularly impressed with new boys Wynter, Gobern and Hare. Zeb was as good as ever and Greener looked good now fit.
Both teams played virtually a different line-up each half and although Reading had a number of well-known players, I thought we were sharper and also more solid in central midfield/defence. One man up front was hard work but both players stuck at it and McCallum's finish was excellent.
A good start! Also a good crowd, 738 I think I heard, who seemed to enjoy it. Both sets of fans mixed well in the main stand.

That might have been the announcement of the 50-50 draw - £73.50
Enjoyable match for a first pre-season game. We looked as good as the starting Reading side. Reasons to be cheerful.

I personally thought that of our new signings Joe Jones performed best and i was very pleased to see Mark Childs back in goal for the first half. Also from the 5 trialists i thought the No 7 Cameron Murray looked a good prospect and his stature and pace reminded me a bit of Sam Matthews.

Mark Jewell told me attendance was around 880. A very impressive figure.

The Reading newspapers also reported the 738 announcement that I heard at the end of the game. Either way, it was a good crowd (better than I expected) and I think they should have gone away happy with the entertainment level, and the home fans also with the result and performance.
Reading report said our pitch was 'dry and sticky'

Some really good football yesterday. Very impressed by the whole team. Had more physicality especially in midfield breaking play up higher up the pitch which led to our first goal. Thought number 33 left back trialists looked good and had lot of pace tracking back up.
