Did anyone else take a crumb of comfort from last night's defeat, to see Woking descending closer to relegation?

Presumably you mean our defeat, Bruce. I was far away from the game, but gleaned enough from the bits I picked up from Ian Wilding's intermittent (for my reception) commentary & the subsequent reports that the team put a proper effort into salvaging something from the game, as they did on Saturday. We've had too many games this season where we've not looked like getting anything from a game & have done so by a bit of good fortune, whereas what we all want to see when we're chasing a game is a never say die attitude, even if we do lose.
As for Woking, miserable club, only concerned with past glories, although I'm sure there are some very decent people who support them. Not bothered if they go down or not, but it's somewhat easier to get to that Barrow for an away game.

In Jan/Feb Woking had back to back wins, but their record before and after those 2 results says it all, BEFORE: P9 W0 D3 L6 and CURRENTLY: P11 W0 D3 L8 put the entire run together with the wins it reads P22 W2 D6 L14.....12 points from 66. They kept faith with the manager far too long, but there is still a chance to pull the escape off. Geoff Chapple could swing it, they got a good point at Dagenham and were leading til late in the second half away at Maidenhead on Tuesday which is not an easy place to go to. I've a feeling now they could win the next two games, Bromley's PO hopes have all but finished and then they go to Guiseley. They've been my tip to fall for quite a while but they've found some confidence and fighting spirit, if they reproduce the Macclesfield effort of Good Friday could make it.
Solihull should get the three points Saturday at home to Guiseley to hit 50 points, while Maidstone have a tough home clash with Fylde who are in good form and a definite for a PO spot....will the 3G pitch be in their favour?? A Maidstone win would also put them on 50 points.
If those result were all to fall correctly it means Barrow has to find at least six points and their chances of getting them probably rest with home games against Ebbsfleet and Chester, with an away fixture at Guiseley.
Excluding the bottom three teams, six of the next nine teams at the bottom clash on the final day, though one fixture does include Chester as well.
Barrow v Chester, Woking v Dover, Maidstone v Halifax, Solihull v Eastleigh. It could be a belter of a day for shredded nerves...suppose we are still on 53 points that day!!!! We truly can't say yet we're over the line to safety can we. Its strange, first we all thought 48 would be enough, then 50, and now we're convinced 53 is safe...it may be.....another point please from somewhere. As Greavie so fondly kept saying "Its a funny old game ain't it saint"

I think you're right Michael....but even if it only has a 1% chance of happening...it can still happen. The results we are looking at are not beyond the realms of possibility due to whom the teams have to play. In theory we should get something from the home game against Ebbsfleet and that would be enough, but as I said, if on the last day we still had 53 points........
Here's the nightmare scenario which worries me if we haven't got that vital extra point before the final day. Solihull to beat Guiseley, Barrow beat both Ebbsfleet and Guiseley, Woking beat Bromley and Guiseley, Maidstone to beat Chester.
That would mean on the final day having all played 45 games the points on the board would read
Eastleigh 53 Woking 51 Barrow 50 Solihull 50 Maidstone 50
Last games...Maidstone home to Halifax, Barrow home to Chester, Woking home to Dover, Solihull home to us.....we are the only away side. If Solihull, Barrow and Maidstone win, which are all possible, its going to come down to goal difference if Woking beats Dover between four of us.
What's your take on that then Michael, its very very possible, so I want one more point to stop worrying.

got to be one from Maidstone, Woking or Barrow to join the bottom 3 cannot see Woking winning again at this stage let alone twice, think there are enough teams below us at this stage Spirit that we can stand down and I'm sure the way we have been playing recently that we will not lose the next 4 to make it 5 losses in a row to end the season.
Think the only interest we have left this season is Macc coming here and winning the title, I wonder when it will be announced as a TV game? If Tranmere win on Saturday then surely they cannot wait for the Tranmere result mid-week next week before shifting the start time, feel for the Macc fans if they are still waiting to clinch it when they come here, as it will be 3 Saturdays in a row they have to face a 12.30 start, not the way The Champions should be treated really.

I reckon 50 will be enough to stay up.
So Woking would need 5 points. Last 3 are
Home bromley Away guiseley Home Dover
Think they will manage that

It is theoretically possible that we could go down, its also possible that the season will be suspended as we are under nuclear attack. IMO both are about as likely. I reckon 51 points will keep a team up. Apart from anything else, we will not lose all our remaining games.

Given that Mad Maggie May is just about to take us to war Michael, I'm not sure the nuclear attack option is less likely then Eastleigh getting relegated......

He never ever lead the polls from the moment he started his campaign to the finish, even then Clinton won the popular vote by just over 4 million, yet their crazy electoral system allowed Trump to have the keys to the white house despite that fact, and boy have we sure got a nut house as POTUS. I suppose if we face a nuclear attack it will be over in a flash, we won't feel a thing...phf...gone...just like that.
If Putin does give a friendly warning though across the bows, I think Barrow would be a target for obvious reasons.....that's not the going down I was thinking about though!!!!

As the saying goes our amount of time on this planet would amount to a grain of sand in the history of the world but yet some still seem to think we have any god given say in the future of it.

We don't have a 'god' given anything Will, are you still teaching Creationism at your school?
As for the American electoral system Spirit, think we could have a good look at ours before worrying about theirs.
