Not surprising really, considering the rain we have had the last few days and much more forecast for today. I know Dan and the lads have made every effort to get the game on. I was looking forward to a bit of footie this afternoon.

Unfortunately I did, called off at 1407 Bognor Twitter had been confident it was going ahead, and one of their fans on the forum was bragging about what a good pitch it was. Not today, it wasn't. But the heavy rain forecast by the Met Office arrived four hours early (why are they so bad nowadays?). Never mind, I popped into a couple of places on the way home, so it wasn't a completely wasted journey. Apart from the football. As well as the efforts put in by the groundstaff at the Silverlake to try and make the pitch playable, credit to someone for being realistic about how the weather here was going to develop during the day. I notice Havant's game was on, apparently they've got covers now too. I watched them a couple of weeks ago and their pitch wasnb't very good then (but lots better than a few years ago) so I wonder what it must be like now? A very important win for them today, increases their chances of playing us next season....

Yup, agreed. Lot of games were called off late today, credit to us that we weren't one of them.
We could have chanced it & left it to the match ref and had the rain eased off and with a bit of luck we might just have got the game on. But it was probably a long shot so a wise & pragmatic decision was made.

The surface already had several areas of wear and damage at the start and got muddier during the warm up. By half time the surface was breaking up badly over at least a third of the pitch. It was far worse in the south half and players attacking that end of the pitch looked like they were playing on a bar of soap. Needless to say the unfortunates kicking into that end were Weston. Havant scored both their goals in the second half with the benefit of attacking on the much better and drier north end. I have seen the same pattern of deterioration on previous wet weather visits and I suspect it has something to do with the pronounced slope down from north to south. I believe the match might not have been played if it had been a National League fixture.

As I said on another thread, 17th is the only Tuesday we are both free , so surely it must be then? Once tuesdays go you are looking at thursdays, so fingers crossed we don’t have anymore games postponed.
Perhaps it’s still waiting to be ratified by the league

Any news on our Website?!?!?..........##### Still showing on the website as 30th March and the away fixture vs Barrow is still showing on the website as 3rd March. The travel item on the news page tells us we are at Tranmere this weekend. If you click on the link for more information you can find out where to park when you drive there or where the station is if you go by train but there is no mention of a supporters' coach. I must have dreamt it when I went up there on the bus.

I mentioned about our so called media team on another thread It so poor all they seem to be interested in is twitter we finally have a decent website well "could be" and the whole site doesn't get updated.

In the old days they also done a list of names on here who was travelling to each away game..for some of the newer supporters who don't know many people it might be a good idea to start it again...they might decide to go if they see some names they know..I have no problems up dating lists if someone at club texts me the names ..
