It really does look like the top nine teams will fight it out for the title and play offs.....one defeat in ten shows the damage done to our chances in the opening half of the season. The small chance we might still have depend on others failing now so obviously we keep going until its impossible although looking at our last nine games it brings home the reality, we play Dover, Tranmere, Ebbsfleet, Aldershot, Wrexham and Macclesfield......six of those nine contenders fighting it out. We are going in the right direction however and it should now be about preparing and building for next season.

Can't disagree with that SOE. Our 9 game unbeaten run was built on playing against sides around or below us. It's a much bigger task to pick up points against the sides you mention. Whilst SD in his interview with R Solent at the weekend said we'd tried to sign X players and only succeeded with Ryan Broom, suggests that the club is, indeed happy to remain in midfield for the rest of this season and plan for a bigger push next. Can't really argue against that philosophy. If philosophy is the right word......

Some realism at last. A sound mid-table finish will be the best we can expect. No disgrace in that.

Agree with the above. However staying on the realistic trend, we need a complete overhaul of our defence to have any chance of getting to the top third of the table next season. I reckon we need at least 3 new defensive faces, all of them need pace and we need to bring in a defensive coach for good measure. It won't sit well with a certain poster, but I'd like to see a run of clean sheets to close out this season. While we are conceding 2 goals a game, every game, a play off push is mere fantasy.

We might be conceding 2 goals a game, but when was the last time we went in at half-time with a clean sheet? Think the difference between the two sides on Saturday was BW's defence (playing3 or 5 across the back) & keeper.

Probably is too big to close, but you never know
the new Manager targetted 2 points a game and I think we have done just that so far

I would love to be on here in a couple of months time eating humble pie, but I don't think there is any realistic chance of us coming anywhere near the top 7. I reckon we will finish 11th.

Nothing wrong with a mid table finish after the start to the season the team had.

it does look like a shoot out between the top 9 with 2 missing out, although doubtless that will change during the next few weeks.
I reckon 72 will do it, heck of an ask, but whilst the maths says we can get there then it gives the end of the season just a little bit of extra interest
