He made a couple of decent stops but we were very poor in a poor game. Iam not disheartened because the team are going no where. The great recent run has safely established the team back in to mid-table and that's where we'll finish. Thought Cresswell for the penalty was stupid, their player was going no where. Not his best game in an Eastleigh shirt today.

The conditions were dreadful today. Borehamwood won for two reasons, 1) they played against the wind better than we did and 2) not unrelated, they had pace. The clinching goal summed up for me our biggest single problem. Cresswell had a 2 yard start over their guy, and he just went past him, Creeswell pulled him down and was actually fortunate not to get a red card. Now I'm not going to blame Cresswell, who is just back from injury, but defensively we are not a solid unit and we chronically lack pace.
I think AH has done a super job with a limited squad getting the results he has, but we aren't going to score 3 or 4 goals every game and we have to tighten up. Personally I think the squad we have at the moment is full of excellent midfielders and we do have goals in us in all positions; even today we could easily have scored 2 or 3 but we could easily have conceded 4 or 5. For me we have a fairly entertaining mid table team; but no way do I expect this current squad to challenge the top few either this season or next. The rebuild needs to get underway - starting at the BACK.

Dull game for most of it, we didn't really create much against a decent defence. BW looked a much better side than when we played them away. Second half BW were more adventurous and their first goal was well taken. The penalty was a joke and effectively killed us off too. Cresswell did make a hash of it letting their payer in but he played the ball before their player went over, the ref was in no position to give it and the Lino offered no help (as usual). Fair result in the end IMO, we really did not do enough going forward.

Weather didn't make it easy for either team but I found it quite entertaining. They looked a really good team, I thought. We still look mid-table.
Great first touch from Ferrier and a good finish for their first (just after we had created three good chances), bad mistake from Cresswell (still a bit rusty? although played quite well otherwise) for the second.
Our two forwards didn't get much of a look-in today, midfield was good in parts. I've criticised Hoyte many times on the past but since the new manager took over I think he's been decent.
Strange that Ayo got his Eastleigh player of the month award but no mention of Sam Wood's achievement (however suprising to some people) in getting Vanarama League player of the month.

Strange Ayo didn't start and thought Beano done enough last week to deserve to stay in.

Read somewhere that Ayo had a slight injury, so only fit enough for the bench.
Agree that visiting keeper Grant Smith made some good saves, particularly the two from the Matthews free-kicks.
Despite the weather I thought the pitch was good again today, although I'm sure there will need to be a lot of work done on it afterwards.

Yes the pitch stood up very well in awful conditions. Not sure all our players were wearing the best studs though.

At the time RH 'stepped down' I said I would love to see Luke Garrard as manager at Eastleigh (No disrespect to AH who has done a great job so far since taking over and of course deserves a good shot at it next season). I expect Garrard to be extremely successful whether that's at Boreham Wood or elsewhere.
8pts off now, realistically I don't think we will do it but nothing to lose and I hope we give it a good go until the end of the season. Difficult conditions today, unfortunately for us Boreham Wood coped with the wind better than us.

Cheer Up - it could have been a lot worse.
This afternoon a game in the Anglian Combination League finished Wells Town 32 - Beach Road 0 (This wasn't a kid's game but in a serious adult league.
This approaches the all-time record set in the First round of the Scottish Cup in September 1885 - Arbroath 36 Bon Accord 0

I spoke to Martin 'Taz' Newman yesterday in Eastleigh and happened to mention that result, he told me he once played in a Sunday league game away at Vospers when they won 32-0, I can't recall the team he played in, however I was wondering if that might be the highest away result ever? I see Taz every Sunday so I'll ask again for the team he was playing for. Would Imagine that game had to be in either the late 60's or early 70's.
