Not 3 year deals, so that they can be injured for the majority of the the time, please.

There will be no further 3 year deals by EFC for the foreseeable future, the club has had its fingers burnt once, it won't do so again so no worries on that score. Rumour has it that there will be a pay ceiling and one year deals with the club having the option to offer a second year....not the player informing the club he wishes to take up the second year option (or the 3rd year, that's why he could still be here next season as well as the wage is so fantastic, no other club can match it in League One I'm told) which is precisely what ML did that has caused so many problems for the club.
That said, AH has really good contacts and I think he will build a really exciting team over the summer, all RH has to do is make the deals and let AH work his magic, he's done brilliantly so far. I just hope no one tries to poach him in the summer, he looks too good for non league football but he won't find a better chairman to work for than SD, everything seems to be falling into place now.

On the other side of things, does anyone know whose contracts are up in the summer, especially the injured ones? And then who's left after that?

Ricky Lambert would for sure increase the crowds , however in my opinion it would be a step backwards in forming a team for the future success which i believe is in grasping distance , young blood we need and get them playing as a team , this is only how i see however.

The idea of 1 year contracts with the c,ubs option of a second year, plus a pay cap sound brilliant. It means that, hopefully, we can sell the Eastleigh dream to some of these players and they won’t just come for the money. I imagine all contracts will have promotion % wage increases as well as a nice bonus to go along with that. If true it’s a fantastic idea by SD. I think with AH and RH contacts in the game we could pip a few teams to the post on some transfer deals.
As with the Reda situation, I am surprised the club even let the contract extension go through! Therefore it’s something they’ve got to deal with for the meantime. I don’t think a league club would touch him now, especially the wages he’d be asking for so I think he’s a player who we’ll carry for the next 18 months or so and spend a lot on in wages.
Cav Miley is someone I feel we just must give a contract extension to, plus try to get Ryan Broom on a permanent deal this summer as his contract expires at Bristol. Sam Matthews I feel will end up on loan at a league club because he’s clearly too good for this level. Our best hope of holding onto him is that we go up ourselves.
I do feel that the feel good factor is back at Eastleigh and I cannot wait to see where we finish this season.

Martfergie, if Richard Hill was able to keep Joe Partington with us for the seasons he did then I am sure Mr Hessenthaler can persuade Sam to stay and be part of something special. I know Joe probably felt some bond with our club as he was rehabilitating his career after being sidelined long term at Cherries through injury. But I wince when people talk about players being likely to move on. It started with Luke "he won't be with us for long" Coulson. Now as soon as anyone strings a few decent MoM performaces together people start to talk about them going off to where the grass is greener. If we are to embrace the vision the owner has for this club then we need to start telling our best players how much we want them to stay and build ther careers with us.

Agree with lots of the above. I think for older players it makes sense to offer largely if not entirely 1 year contracts too. But for younger players, especially lads like Sam Matthews who have quite a few games for Eastleigh under their belts and have proven themselves then longer contracts seem to be a good idea. More than 2 years does seem pretty risky though!
Looking at Mandron, Coulson and Partington who we got decent fees for - had they had a smaller time period left on their contracts we'd have got a far smaller fee or they may even have gone on a free.
Its a fine balance of course, hopefully we have the right team of football and financial people making these decisions.

Thanks - some of the 'market values' are quite amusing, too!
